My Charbroil grill igniter won't work. There's no clicking noise anymore when the igniter button is pressed. Have to stick long lighter in to light grill. What should I do?
You guys that recommend how to repair items don't have a clue. The gas valve has absolutely nothing to with the igniter not creating a spark. The problem is in the igniter system. It can be corrosion, a bad ground connection or a bad or dead battery. Check the items i mentioned and see what happens. The recommendations from others are totally wrong .
I';m sure everyone thinks they are giving good advice, but READ THE SYMPTOMS. The guy says his ignitor doesn't "click" anymore. And most of you tell him he needs a new gas regulator. Fix his problem, don't create new ones. He needs his ignitor fixed. Maybe just a new battery? Or maybe the whole ignitor unit But certainly not a new regulator, etc, etc.

The problem you're having is related to the OPD Valve in the Propane Tank. But, it is solvable by following the instructions below.
1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank.
2. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank.
3. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow).
4. Once the tank valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and set the burner
control knob on HIGH. Does the flame height look correct for being set on HIGH? If so, light
the remaining burners the same way. Do all the burner flames look correct? If so, you solved
the problem. Remember, to always open the tank valve Very, Very Slowly.
If that didn't solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's
Hose/Regulator Assembly. It runs about $30.00 at any home center or
hardware store that sells grills & accessories. If you replace it,
turn the tank valve ON Very, Very Slowly.
Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Happy Grilling and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Well, it sounds like your grill is experiencing vapor lock. Vapor lock is basically air caught in the gas line and there is a relatively easy method to fix this. I want you to try this method and tell me what you get, ok? First, open the tank's valve, then open the burner valve and light the grill. Immediately after you see a blue flame, turn off the tank's valve, count to five and then close the burner valve. Repeat this procedure three times, the problem should clear itself.
If you are still experiencing problems, the regulator may be faulty and needs to be tested next, so go get a new regulator from your Lowe's and run the procedure again. If after all this, you are still experiencing the problem, let me know here. Good luck!
