Asus vw222u only offers 800x600 resolution.

I have a monitor from 2008 or so. That seems to have somekind of a problem internally. At times the monitor will go off / only offer 800x600 resolution from the computer. The problem is not in the computer as I've tested this with different outputs / cables and the problem does not happen with other monitors I've also had different graphics cards installed on the system and the problem has persisted. It seems to be a problem inside the display probably on the logic board with the signal inputs -> output to lcd panel. If I take the display apart is there something I should check for, is there something specific I could do to it to possibly solve the problem? The only solution I have is to disconnect the power and wait a while, reconnect the power and it might give options for 1680x1050.

Distorted circles when using Illustrator, etc.

New monitor? Widescreen? You need to adjust your resolution so it fits your screen. Otherwise go back to a square screen.

Screen goes pink and green starting with a few pixels

Best thing to do, try a different known working monitor to hook up to the computer. If the screen works and doesn't change colors then you know its the original monitor that is bad.

If you hook up the known working monitor and the same problem happens then you know its the video card that is bad and the video card would have to be replaced.

Display resolution goes from 1024x600 to 800x600 at start up.

try reinstalling the drivers for the onboard graphics and for the monitor. Might be the monitor is not supporting the default resolution.
