There is none. For the TABLE feature the calculator will display the = sign. f(X)=.... For solving an equation (or equations) the right sides are assumed to be 0, so, you do not need the sign.

SOURCE: Casio fx-300es. How do you enter a variable? what

You have a way to enter the Variables A, B,C,D, Y and X.
Use the ALPHA key
For A use ALPHA change sign key (-), below the Fraction Template.
For B use ALPHA (degree ' ")
For C use ALPHA (HYP)
For D use ALPHA (SIN)
For X use ALPHA right )
For Y use , ALPHA (S-D) key
For =, use ALPHA and the key below the SHIFT key. May be marked CALC. The = is in the same color as the ALPHA on calculator. It should be to the upper right side of a key.

(I have an FX-991ES that is compatible with the FX-300ES, but since I do not have a picture of the FX-300ES calculator I cannot be more specific than I have been, lest I mislead you.)

Y=x^2-7x+4, y=-8x^2+56x-86

Since the y-variable is isolated in both equations, set the two right sides of the equations equal
x^2-7x+4=-8x^2+56x-86
Combine all like terms on one side of the equal sign
9x^2-63x+90=0. factor out the 9 to get 9(x^2-7x+10)=0
Now solve the equation (x^2-7x+10)=0. The solutions are x=5 and x=2
Calculate the y-value tof be y=-6
The two solutions are (2,-6) and (5,-6)
Graphically, here is how the two curves intersect. One intersection point in the screen capture is (2,-6). You can read that the other intersection point is (5,-6)

How do I solve for y, 2y + (y-3)=18 - 2 (y+3). with the casio fx-300es? and if I cant whats the calculator that will. thanx

Do you really need a calculator to solve a linear equation?
Let us see how to solve it without a calculator.
Remove the parentheses fronm the second term on the left : y-3
Use the distributive property on the last term on the right side -2y-6
Take the term -3 to the right side, changing its sign in the process (becomes +3)
Take the -2y term to the left making it +2y.
3y +2y=18+3-6 or 5y=15 and the answer is straightforward .

As to your Casio FX300ES, it cannot solve equations because it does not have an EQUATION calculation mode. The Casios FX-115ES and FX-991ES have an Equation Mode. If you use any of the two to solve an equation in one variable (linear, quadratic or other) the unknown is taken to be x by default. You would have to change the name of the variable from y to x.

How do i use the equal sign when solving an equation?

You enter the problem into the calculator and when you are finished you press the equals sign to make it give you the answer to your problem.

Here is an example;

If I wanted to know what the sum (or total) was for 2 + 10+ 16 - I would enter the number 2 and then the plus sign + and then the number ten and the plus sign + and then the number sixteen and the plus sign again + and then press the equals sign which looks like this =. when I press the equals sign = the calculator gives me the answer to my question of what the total of those numbers are.

I hope this helps?

Need help with fx - 991 ms to solve f(x)=100x-64*x^2+48*x^3 for different value of x

I am not quite sure what you mean by ``solve f(x)=100x-64*x^2+48*x^3 for different value of x``. Do you want to find the roots of the cubic equation 0=100x-64*x^2+48*x^3 , or do you want to generate values of f(x) for different values of the variable x.
For the first case, use the SOLVE program,
for the second, use the TABLE computational mode: Press MODE and select TABLE, then enter the expression to the right of the equal sign. In TABLE, X is the default variable.

I just started a college algebra class and was hoping to use this calculator i just purchased to help me out (casio fx-300es natrual display) i was wondering if you have any videos on how to use this...

The variables you have at your disposal in this calculator are
A, B,C,D,X,Y,M. All of them are accessed by pressing the [ALPHA] key before the key near which is written the name of the variable. You will notice that the markings of the symbols accessed with the [ALPHA] key are of the same color as that of the [ALPHA] key.

You will notice also that there are two = signs.
The one at the bottom right executes the command line. By pressing it you find the result of the expression just entered.

The other = sign is marked on the body of the calculator with the same color as the [ALPHA] key. It is located at the top left of the keyboard (excluding the row with SHIFT, MODE, the navigation buttons)

Example to enter X^2-2X-35=0 you proceed as follows.
Direct access physical keys are in [ ],
[ALPHA] (X) [X to power 2] [ - ] [2] [ * ][ALPHA][(X) [ - ] [3][5] [ALPHA] (=) [0]

Usually when you enter such an expression it is with the intention of solving it for X. By default X is taken to be the UNKNOWN. You will be prompted to enter the value assigned to any other letter symbol (Y, A,B,C,D).

So, if you want to use the Solve function, you enter the equation you are dealing with, and before pressing anything else, press [SHIFT] [CALC] and the calculator will ask you a question: "Solve for X?" , and you press the = sign at the bottom right.
Then you will be prompted for any other non-X letter. Once all non-X variables (if any) are given values, the calculator will return with the solution. You will see on the screen L-R= (should be zero if you are lucky).

What is the answer to 10x minus 3x equals 20 plus 1 equals what

joshua,

X = 3 (answer)

Here are the solution steps:

10x minus 3x equals 20 plus 1

10X minus 3X is 7X (right?)
20 plus 1 is 21 (right?)
therefore:

7X = 21

now divide both sides of the equals sign by 7

7X divided by 7 equals 21 divided by 7

7X / 7 = 21/7

X = 3 (answer)

Storing
  1. To store numerical values in the variables A,B,C,D,X,Y and M you use the [SHIFT][RCL] key combination to access the (STOre) function.
  2. In what follows [ key] is the physical key and (key) is the SHIFTED key
  3. ex: store the value 13 in variable A
  4. 13 [SHIFT][RCL] (STORE) [(-)] (A)
  5. The calculator displays 13 --> A on top line and 13.000.. on bottom line.
Recalling
  • To recall a value stored in a variable ex: recall value stored in variable A
  • Press [RCL][(-)] (A)
  • Calculator displays A on top line and 13 on bottom line.
If you need to use the variables A,B,C,D,X,Y, and the = sign to create an expression to be solved with the solve( function you must press the [ALPHA] key

=: [ALPHA] [CALC](=)
A: [ALPHA][(-)] (A)
B: [ALPHA][ 0 ' "] (B)
X: [ALPHA][ ) ] (X)
Y:[ALPHA][S<=>D] (Y)
etc.

Casio fx-7400G PLUS cubic solver?

Hi,
First let us repair the terminology.

  1. You can evaluate any expression (find the value of any expression for a particular value of its variable).Store a value in the variable, say X. Key in the expression and press [EXE].
  2. You can consider your expression(should not contain a relational operator such as =, greater than, less than, greater than or equal to, less than or equal to) to be a function Y1(x) = expression and graph it, or generate a table for it. You will have several values of the function calculated at various points.
  3. You can set your expression equal to 0 and find the particular value(s) of the variable (the unknown) that make the equality TRUE. That is called solving an equation.
I am not sure that it has a solver (solving an equation or an inequation) but you can always draw your expression as a function and explore the graph (SKTCH) to locate the roots (or zeros) of the functions (the values of the variable where the function equals zero.) That is called solving graphically.

Hope it helps.
Thank you for using FixYa and for rating this solution.
