SOURCE: want to disengage lid lock on maytag centennial

I had the same problem. The lid lock assembly is broken. If you are under warranty get it replaced. If not remove the top of the washer and take out the switch assembly. The 4 wires going in are Yellow, Red, White, and Blue. If you short the white and blue together, the washer thinks the lid is closed. If you short the red white and blue together the washer thinks the lid is closed and locked. The yellow is only there to activate the electromagnetic switch.
Disconnecting the switch assembly will not work.
The electromagnet locks the lid and it also unlocks the lid. It is not a matter of cutting the power to the magnet.
Installing 2 switches that connect the red white and blue is the best option if you want to remove the lock.
The first switch should connect the white and blue. (LID CLOSED)
The second should connect the red to the white/blue connection. (LID LOCKED)
After that the lid should work.
Please post a follow-up if this works for you.
GOOD LUCK

Have a new maytag centennial washer and I tried to disengage lid lock by crossing blue and white wires it won't run at all now

why? put them back where they belong. the lid lock is a mandated safety feature on all washing machines. My wife does not like her's either, but has learned to live with it. You may have caused damage to control board by doing that. You have to call for service.

Lid lock broken can I overide?

Washer not starting Cycle:
I would have to slam the washer lid before the washer recognized the lid was shut.
What I did to fix:
1. Ref the link below for Schematics
http://blog.kennyluong.com/Tricking-A-Maytag-Bravos-Washer/
2. Looking at the Lid Lock section of the Schematic:
Place a jumper between pins 2 and 3 of J15
This engages the 1st switch (Lid Lock) so, I don't have to slam the lid anymore
3. Since my Lock switch (2nd switch), which is engaged with a magnetic, is working, my work is done.
If you find that your machine is still not starting the cycle, you will need to
replace the Lid Lock mechanism or ref the above link for temp bypass.

I have a Maytag top load high efficiency low water washer and the lid lock is locked and will not open. I was doing a load of clothes and power went off for just a minute and now I can not get the lid to...

This is a common problem with a momentary power failure, the controller doesn't get time to reset and return to an idle state before the machine gets power back and it gets "confused". You will almost certainly find that unplugging from the mains (Not just powering off on the button, as some door locks have a sneak circuit, even when the power is turned off at the button) and leaving the machine undisturbed for a full 20 minutes will allow a reset, the door lock will disengage and all will be well when you power back up.
