SOURCE: broken tumbler belt

Slide a putty knife or other thin object between the top and front panels a couple inches in from either side. Press in and release the two spring clips holding the top panel and at the same time lift it up and lean it back. Remove the screws inside the front corners holding the front panel on. Place the new belt around the drum in about the same position as the old one was. Remove the lower rear panel to access pulleys. place belt around the motor pulley. Stretch the idler arm over and place belt around pulley. Reassemble.

SOURCE: replace dryer belt

Pull the front panel off, remove the top screws and tilt top back. Rout the new belt around drum at the old wear spot with the grooved side against the drum. Next remove the back access door and rout the belt around the idler pulley and motor pulley. There is only one way to do this and get proper tension on the belt.
Also, when you order the belt, ask if it has a belt routing diagram on the belt package.

How do i replace the motor belts on GE Dryer model DPSR475E0WW? The squeeking is unbearable.

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • Phillips screwdriver
  1. Step 1 Unplug the dryer and open the dryer door.
  2. Step 2 Unscrew the screws under the top lip, where the dryer's door closes, with your screwdriver. Once these screws are removed, lift the top off of the dryer. On older models, the entire top will hinge upward out of the way, and on models made after 1997, half the top will pull off.
  3. Step 3 Remove the screws on the inside-top corners of the front panel so the front panel of the dryer can be removed and set aside. On models made before 1997, the front panel should be carefully set to the right side; on newer models, the panel should be set to the left side of the machine. Be careful not to damage the door-control wires.
  4. Step 4 Locate two screws approximately 6 inches off the floor on each side and remove them, allowing you to push the sides of the dryer slightly apart so the drum can be removed. Pull the drum slightly toward you and reach around to remove the dryer belt from the motor pulley. If the belt is broken, this step should not be necessary. Once the belt has been removed from the motor pulley, the drum should pull up slightly and out of the dryer toward you.
  5. Step 5 Remove the old dryer belt and put the new one in place, with the ribs of the belt facing the drum. The slack part of the belt should be placed near the motor. Reverse the previous directions to replace the drum, replace the screws that hold the sides in place, replace the front and replace the top.
  6. Step 6 Pull the dryer out from the wall and remove the four screws holding in the panel near the bottom of the back of the dryer. You will see the motor, the drum and the belt you just set in place. Loop the belt around the motor pulley and the idler pulley, and turn the drum by hand to make sure that the belt is straight and will stay in place. Screw the panel back on and push the dryer back into place against the wall.

Asko T720 clothes dryer - thumping noise like the drum is damaged and shakes when going.

hi
The drum of the dryer is usually turned by a motor-and-belt assembly. There are two very clear signs that the belt is malfunctioning: You can easily spin the drum by hand when the dryer is off, or you hear a heavy thumping sound coming from the drum when the dryer is running. Here's how to test and replace the drum belt:

Step 1: Locate the belt by removing the back or front service panel. Depending on the type of dryer you own, you may have to prop up the drum to keep it from sagging. Don't let the drum hang; the bolts that hold it in the cabinet could be damaged. Don't remove any more parts than necessary.

Step 2: Identify the belt. The old belt may be threaded around the idler pulley and motor drive shaft. Draw a diagram showing how the pulley is installed so you'll be able to replace it properly. If the old belt is worn or frayed, but not broken, leave it around the drum as a pattern for positioning the new belt; cut the old belt and remove it when the new belt is in position.

Step 3: Remove the old belt from the pulleys and stretch the replacement belt into place. The new belt must extend around the dryer drum and the pulleys. The trick is to align the belt on the drum with the pulleys -- the ribs on the new belt go against the drum.

Step 4: Once the belt is aligned, turn the drum by hand, if possible, to make sure the belt is tracking. You may have to reassemble part of the cabinet to do this.

Dryer won't spin

step 1- remove the face of the dryer, then remove the cover for the fan, check to see if object is blocking the fan, if object is there , remove object, if not go to step 2

step 2- check to see if the belt is broken, if the belt is broken replace the belt.

step 3 - remove the belt from the motor and turn the dryer on, if the motor doesn’t turn then you need to replace the motor.

Replace belt

Before offering assistance I need to know if the old belt is still on the machine and in tact. The procedure is a little different if the belt has broken.
