What a bummer!!! I know what it's like to lose and old 'friend'! Pray for God to send you a new one! If you can't check antique shops (you'd be amazed at what you find!), try ebay or the manufacturer. Both cane be helpful ports of call, and even if the MF can't resupply after 47 years, they may offer a place to look. Try local notice boards, and the ever effective word of mouth.
Probably hard to see, or you'd have seen it. But there should be a clip just behind the center of the window crank. If you puch the door panel back away from the winder, you can take a curved pick and slide it out one way. It is open on one end, so you must slide it away from this opening. It sort of looks like a clip shaped like an open fish mouth. Need a tiny pick to hook it and pull it out sideways. Good luck. TT
