Auto harps are still being made under the Oscar Schmidt brand name. The company may hold records in its archives listing the years specific models and serial number ranges were manufactured.

I suggest you contact the manufacturer and ask if there are records in the company archives which can give you and idea of the age of the instrument:

hi Andy, the lever you pull or push down to rotate the chair is it bent ? there is a type of washer so with care spray WD40 or GT85 some in that area but be careful because behind and under the plastic is electronics etc.

I've found out that the recording speed is important for this model. The speed on the dvd must be 4x or less. If your using an 8x or 16x it will not work. Hope this helps.

Maybe you can help me. I'm looking for the 4 digit code that goes into the remote to make it compatible. I think it's in the operators manual, which I no longer have. If you can find this number I would really appreciate it.
