I noticed that my wine cooler temp code was flashing something I had never seen, E2 and 86. I opened the cooler and all the wine was very warm
I tried holding both buttons to reset, the only one would re set to 29, that was the one showing 86. What do you think the problem is. I purchase the cooler in Jan 07

Is it because your keypad not functioning, meaning does the number change when you press the arrow up or down? Or when you set it, (let's say 12 Cel.) it does not reach down to that temperature. Then it could be either it's a sealed system problem( leaking refrigerant or under charge if it's a new unit). Or it could be a control problem( electronic control or sensor)

I am having a problem with my wine cooler also.I found the upper evap fan not running. So i opened up the control board and plugged the fan that was not working into one of the other 2 sockets, and the fan worked.so i have a circuit board problem. If you go online to sears parts and repair.put in your model# and search,it will bring up a diagram of most of the parts available. And no it doesnt have to be a GE product.

Hello
Welcome to fixya.
I'm Huuum and happy to assist you,
Sounds like we need to try to reset the system!
Huuum At your service!
Lets try this,
With an error code.
This can reset the system if it is electronic!
Unplug the appliance and wait a 5 minutes then restart it.
If you can't reach the plug, use the breaker to cut the power for 5 minutes.
It's like rebooting your computer when its acting strange!
Usually it corrects some error problems if they are not serious.
Or they are sometimes just a glitch.
Let me know how it works! Waiting for your reply!
Please remember to leave a rating when you are done!
Thank You huuum

E4 on danby designer wine cooler -
TEST your compressor: Cooler can be forced to operate and cool as a test.
Unplug unit from 115v receptacle.
Hold both temperature control buttons down.
Plug unit in 115v receptacle.
The cooler should start, but the thermostat will not stop the compressor. Now you got a freezer ! I do not know how to fix the E4 error yet.
