It all depends on the DISH system and the TV. For the most part the CC signal is carried on the cable from the box to the TV. Not sure how you have the DISH connected to the TV, but lets assume its HDMI. Connected this way you should be able to go into the TV settings (use the remote that came with the TV, NOT the dish remote) and go into the settings or menu. From there look for audio. In the audio menu is a section for CC. You should be able to turn it on from there. Or just check on the LG remote. They sometimes have a CC button that you simply push to turn it on. Hope this helps

SOURCE: Removal instructions for close caption

If you are hooked up to a cable receiver, the closed caption must be disabled in the cable receiver. With most cable receivers the closed caption must either be on or off and there is not cc button on the remote.

SOURCE: 3 digit codes for 42

We would be happy to help you with getting your DISH Networkremote to control your LG TV. We're going to start by pressing and holding the TVbutton located on the top of your remote until all mode button back lights comeon, and then release. Use the number buttons to enter the codes for your LG TV; here are some of the codes we currently have: 627, 505, 520, 506, and 581, then press the pound (#) button. To check if the code works try severaldifferent functions on the remote to make sure it will properly operate yourTV. Remember that some codes may not be compatible with your equipment. If thisis the case, try the other codes listed for your LG TV until youfind one that is compatible with it.

We hope this helps and thank you for being a valued DISH Network customer!

How do I turn on close caption

Hello, Julie -

The remote control which came with your TV may have a button for Closed Caption (CC). If not, with the TV on, press the Menu button. There is probably a Display choice on the Menu, from which you choose Closed Caption.

Many remote controls for cable or satellite dish TV services also have a button specifically for choosing Closed Caption.

If you kept the user manual for your TV and / or the manual for cable or dish TV service, there should be information on choosing Closed Caption in the manual.

If you do not have the user manuals, if you choose Comment here and type in the make and model of your TV as well as name your cable or satellite TV provider (if you have one), then, I or someone answering for Fixya can probably find the user manuals or instructions online for you.

Best wishes.

I have a 32" PHILLIPS Flat Panel TV it has a picture and no sound regardless of source.

Check if there is a function for hearing impaired or captioning. also if you are on satellite your dish may need to be re aimed. Or maybe you have HD selection issues. I checked on my controller. it is all in the menu button selected area.

Close Captioning on Dish Network VIP722 DVR Receiver

Christy Hartl,

I can definitely look this over with you. This sounds like it is on one receiver. It is possible it could be the equipment, but first I would like you to check something for me.

Go to Menu -> Preferences (8) -> Closed Captioning (6) -> Caption On/Off (1). Make sure it is selected for "CC is on." Once that's enabled, try it again. If CC's are still not showing, press 'Info' on the remote and see if CC is listed on the program. Let me know if you have any questions.

Cant turn off closed caption

sherrillbrom

With our VIP receiver models, you have an option to turn on/off closed caption through the receiver. Press the Menu button on the remote, which will display the Main Menu on the TV screen. Press 8 (Preferences) and then press 6 (Closed Caption). On the Closed Caption screen, press 1. On the Closed Caption On/Off screen, select CC Off and then press Done from the TV screen (using your DISH remote). This will turn the feature off on the receiver. Test to see if it is turned off by watching a program that has CC. If it still appears, then the feature is activated through your TV. Please refer to your TV manual to turn the feature off. I hope this helps.

Our LG 42LH30 TV for no reason displays closed caption. We cannot turn this feature off as when you try to select it in the set up, it is grayed out and skips past that option to turn off

What is the source of the signal for the TV? The CC may be turned on at the set top box (cable, sat, dvd player). Check the menus for any of these devices. If the source is OTA, then I'm not sure what to suggest.

I hope this helps.

(I have dealt with this for a neighbor. To get the captions on an older TV, they need the captions turned on at the satellite dish receiver and put the system in single mode. So they have to remember to turn off the captions when their hearing impaired relative leaves.)

How do I get closed captioning on my 625 dish dvr.

Guest,

The 625 receiver does not have a setting to control closed caption. This is a setting from your TV itself. I would look at your TV manual to see how you can turn the feature on. I hope this helps.
