Hey, i have nearly the same problem and now finally found a solution to it. In my case half of the screen was empty and the other worked correctly AND slight pressure to the frame surrounding the display on the side of the defect half and/or above the display makes the display reappearing again. Because it's annoying if you always have to press with one hand on your calculator while working with it i did the following: Important: Make sure that... ... you have a backup of the data stored on your TI because you could lose them during the following procedure. ... we are really talking about the same problem. ... this hints come without any warranty and you might destroy your calculator completely following this advice. 1. Open your TI 89 as described for example in [1] 2. Take a piece of foam rubber and cut out a stripe with a shape like |_ or "L", about 1cm in width which fits approximately the frame around the display on the the defect side and the top. 3. Place the foam rubber on the silver shield you see after opening the back of your TI. 4. Then you can assemble your calculator again. I hope i could help you! Well, to answer part of your question, yes... the TI-89 does factor like this. it is inputted like this:

factor(6*x^2+11*x+4,x)

Check the catalog in the TI-84 (which is 2nd-zero) and look under F for factor()

I assume you are speaking of solving a system of equations with a number of unknowns. If not, please correct me. Here's an example in practice:

If you have a system of 3 equations with 3 unknowns, you would set up your matrix so that the coefficients of each variable for a particular equation are on one row. So, given equations x + y + z = 0, 2x + 3y - 4z = 1, x + -z = -1 you would type the following into your calculator: [[1,1,1,0][2,3,-4,1][1,0,-1,-1]] and press enter to make sure you typed it correctly. notice that in the third row there is a zero, since we have zero time y for the third equation. Then row-reduce the matrix (2nd > 5 > 4 > 4 or in the CATALOG as rref). You should get out the matrix [[1,0,0,-1][0,1,0,1][0,0,1,0]]. This says that x=-1 y = 1 z=0 since my first column contained the coefficients for the x variable, the second for the y variable, and the third for the z variable. The last column contains the solution, the part on the other side of the equals sign.

This error is due to 3rd-party software not compatible with the Operating sytem. The software is trying to access a memory address (location) reserved for the OS or for an application.

To correct it:

The following procedure will completely reset the calculator. Note that this will erase the memory of the calculator and restore all manufacturer's defaults.

• Hold down the following keys [2nd] [<] and [>] (right and left arrow keys)
• Press [ON]
• Release all the keys at the same time
• Adjust the contrast, if necessary.

If you're willing to have all RAM cleared, try a hard reset.

Press and hold the 2ND, Left-arrow, and Right-arrow keys.
Press and release the ON key.

TI-89 Titanium screen frozen at apps menu

Remove the small memory battery, and then remove one of the four AAA batteries, then while holding down the APPS button reinstall the AAA battery and then it should say waiting to recieve operating system then hook it up to your computer with the silver connect cable and then on the computer send the operating system to the TI89 Titanium, and wait for it to install completely and it should work.

Remove the batteries and wait a minute or two. Put them back in and turn the calc back on and it should function normally. Check for stuck buttons as well, as sometimes they will cause the calc to appear "frozen".

My TI-89 is frozen is there any way of resetting it or anything I can do? It isn't the batteries.

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

If that doesn't do it, reset the calculator. Press and hold the lef-arrow, right-arrow, and 2ND keys, then press and release the ON key.

If that doesn't do it, remove one of the four AAA batteries. Press and hold the ) and (-) keys while replacing the battery. Continue to hold the two keys down for at least five seconds before releasing them.

I just exausted a code for my ti 89 and it is frozen and wont do any thing

Try a hard reset. Be aware that this will clear all RAM.

Press and hold the 2ND, left-arrow, and right arrow keys.

Press and release the ON key.

Screen frozen

Hello,
When you turn the machine down, it rests where you left it, in the state you left it: In case you wanted to continue with the same program, what you have already accomplished will not be lost.

After you turn it on, Press [2nd][QUIT] or just press the [HOME] button, and it will take you home.

It's frozen. Hold (at the same time) [←] [→] [2nd] then hit [on]. It clears RAM.
