That would depend on the make and model inverter you have. The typical ones used on automotive and RV's are 12VDC. There are some special application inverters that use anywhere from 24VDC to 300VDC, but those are typical for commercial and industrial applications.

I have a Xantrex RV2012 in a 2006 Newmar Ventana motorhome. When plugged in its always searching for AC when you disconnect battery cables to reset it seems to work fine. What could be the problem.

Use a multimeter to check the input AC voltage (110-125VAC), the fuse(s) for the DC out and the voltage (12-13.8VDC). Have the batteries disconnected when doing this and check the battery voltage(s).

If your batteries have low voltage and the output is into correct range, you may have dead cells. This has been my findings on many units, which means battery replacement. Make sure your get a MARINE DEEP CELL or DEEP CYCLE battery, not a regular car battery. Clean out replace the battery terminals well when installing new ones and use the battery terminals grease that it should come with liberally for future corrosion protection.

If your input voltage does not match the voltage coming from the shore power connection, check the continuity of your power cable.

If your input voltage is in the proper range but the output voltage is not, your inverter may be faulty and in need of repair or replacement.

COLEMAN INVERTER PMP1200 JUST BEEPS WHEN TURNED ON

It is most likely the low voltage alarm. Suggest connecting when the car is running with no load (110 volts not connected). If the alarm continues turn the unit off and on to reset.

Hope this helps?

Inverter Protection Features
• Short Circuit Protection. The inverter will automatically shut down until short is removed.
• Low Voltage Alarm. An alarm will sound when the voltage from the battery discharges to 10.5 +/- 0.5 volts DC. This is an indication that the battery needs to be recharged.
• Over Voltage Protection. The RED LED Indicator Light will illuminate and the inverter will automatically turn itself off when the input exceeds 16.5 +/- 1 volt DC.
• Under Voltage Protection. The RED LED Indicator Light will illuminate and the inverter will automatically turn itself off when the input is less than 10.0 +/- 0.5 volts DC.
• Overload Protection. The RED LED Indicator Light will illuminate and the inverter will automatically turn itself off when the continuous draw of the equipment being operated exceeds 1200 watts or the surge draw of the equipment exceeds 2400 watts.
• Thermal Protection. The RED LED Indicator Light will illuminate and the inverter will automatically turn itself off when the circuit temperature exceeds 150° F

We got EUPH warning. the motor running in wild mode. how to fix

E.uPh due to the ripple detection of the DC bus. This is typically caused by a missing phase on the input side of the inverter.

Measure your mains voltage L1-L2, L2-L3, L1-L3 and L1-ground, L2-ground, L3-ground to verify that your supply voltage is balanced and withing the rated specifications.

If the applied voltage is good then there is a problem with the input stage or the DC bus and the unit will need to be repaired or replaced.

Yukon 2.5 x50 nvrs tactical night vision rifle scope, works fine but making a strange processing noise when on?

Hello, don't worry about it. It is HV to the image intensifier tube. The battery voltage goes through control circuit then to ccfl inverter (here is were dc voltage is switch on and off and switch dc voltage is step up by toroid coil that has two input and only two out puts). By impulsing the coil with two different switch dc voltage on the input this make the current lag the two different phase voltage by 90 degrees. Here is where the strange noise is coming from. The toroid coil is encased in iron case and if half of this iron case is loose, it makes case vibrate so the noise.

Now, the voltage come out of the toroid coil is switching dc (one could call it AC because that what AC voltage is, it switch between positive to negative) this voltage is about 300 to 900 switching DC voltage. This voltage will be applied to a 1/2 wave voltage multiplier (this voltage multiplier with have anywhere four four stages to 10 stages depend on what the input voltage to multiplier is.

Low the voltage out of the ccfl inverter the more stages the multiplier will have.

Now, the voltage multiplier will double the voltage per stage to need image intensifier tube voltage of 12000 to 45000 volts---DC switching or AC what ever one wants to call it. This voltage will bit you but it doesn't have a lot current associated with it, the current would be in the 10 to 15 ua (micro-amps) 1/10X6 amps.

Philips 37PF3321/10 At first the pictures were on and off but now there is no pictures. Sound remains perfect.

The problem might on on your inverter board or the back light is busted.

1.Check for the input supply of the inverter board. the supply must be 24V of 12V use a multimeter range on DC

2.Then if you have input voltage (24V or 12V), check for the output of the inverter board it should have 500VDC.

3. If the output is present , the problem might be on the back light. Replace it, its available on electronic shop.

Hope this may help you

My sanyo hdtv shows no pictures when you turn it on (the screen is black) but you can hear the audio. The remote control can change the channels and volume up&down but the picture won't show

Good day!

The problem of your TV could be the inverter board or the cold cathode light is busted.

Follow this instruction on how to fix that problem:

  1. Remove the back cover of your TV.
  2. Look for the Inverter board.
Inverter board looks like this:
nineng_6.jpg

3. Check the input voltage of the inverter board if have 24vdc.Using multimeter (range on DC)
4. If you have 24vdc,check the output voltage of the inverter board it should have 500vdc.
5. If you don't have 500vdc output on the inverter, replace it.
6. If the you have the output voltage on it,the problem could be the busted cold cathode light (C.C.T).Replace it.

I hope this solution will be helpful.Thank you and don't forget to rate my answer.

Hitachi L26D103. Less than 2 years old. Working fine one day. Turned on the next day and the sound works, but not the picture. This is an issue when in both the TV and DVD modes.

Good day!

If your TV doesn't have a picture even you play a DVD it means there is problem to your TV.It could be the Inverter board or the cold cathode lights is busted.

This are the steps on how to fix that problem.
  1. Remove the back cover of your TV.
  2. After that, plug in the TV and power it ON to perform a voltage data.
  3. Check the the output voltage of your power supply by using multimeter tester (range in DC) then check the 24vdc(supply of inverter board).
  4. If you have 24vdc in power supply output, check also the input voltage of inverter board if have 24vdc.If doesn't check the wire connection from power supply to the inverter board.
  5. If have you input voltage of inverter then check the high voltage output of it,if have at least 500vdc so be careful to check it because it have a high voltage.
  6. If doesn't have high voltage output replace the inverter board and if have a output voltage the cold cathode lamp inside is busted so you have to replace it
The inverter board looks like this:

I attach my inverter with custom battery cables and it powers up. As soon as I plug in an extension cord (any cord)it starts beeping. I don't even have anything plugged into the other end.

please check the voltage of the battery may be the voltage of battery is low or use the multi meter and check DC volts before conneceting the battery and after conneceting once more check the DC volts it could slove the problem
the beeping sound is due to battery low voltage
what is the DC input of the Inverter check the battery hook up if the inverter is of example DC 24 volts please check what is the input
