Could I please get a follow-up to this previous issue? I just had one more question, posted on the 30th of October. Thank you!

Posted by brian s on Oct 26, 2007Report abuse

My 4 year old Maytag PAV 2300 AWW never agitates, but will spin sometimes, (one cycle only) then needs to wait 45 minutes to spin again. I have taken it apart and the trasmission's spindle's teeth looks fine and the bottom plastic agitator's teeth look fine as well.

I ran a cycle, with a small load of water, without all of the plastic agitator parts to watch if the metal spindle turned, which I am assuming is the top part of the transmission, and it did not turn. The spin cycle runs (ocassionally) with clothes and water in it, but never the agitator. The machine is running though and all of the water cycles adding water and draining normally on time.

I think the spin cycle running after waiting 45 minutes is especially strange. I don't know how that relates to the agitator never working????How can I tell if it is the transmission or the timer? Or could anything else be the problem and how can I diagnose it?

I really appreciate your expertise and my wife would really appreciate me fixing this thing,

Comment by brian s, posted on Oct 26, 2007Also, I have checked the belt and cleaned all of the pulleys. I also checked the lid switch and there is no debris between the tubs.

Brian
Comment by brian s, posted on Oct 30, 2007Thank you for the response. I not sure if that is the problem because it does spin on the first cycle and that is after the agitation mode. The agitation mode never works, even when cold, during the first cycle.

If you will permit me, this is a list of the problems on each cycle, chronicologically;

  1. Fill, seems ok, fills with water normally.
  2. No agitation, the belt & all pulleys turn clockwise, but the spindle above doesn't turn and the tub won't turn manually either. ( strange thing is that in-between the two tubs you can see that there are water bubbles that move counter-clockwise....... maybe that is normal?????)
  3. Drains, after a quick click, it seems to drain normally
  4. Spin, the first time this actually works, the belt and all pulleys turn counter-clockwise and it spins fine.
  5. Rinse, it fills the tub with water, then immediatly goes to -
  6. No agitation, again belt and all pulleys turn clockwise, but no turn of the top spindle, (again, the small bubbles move counterclockwise.)
  7. Drains, again a click, then drains normally
  8. Spin, this time it does not spin. The belt and all pulleys turn counter-clockwise, but the tub does not move..... ( just like the aggitation mode )

Some quick notes;
I took off the water pump and all was clear and working fine.
The belt seems fine, ( a little loose, but fine) except 2 very small cracks.
If trying to repeat process soon, spin doesn't work either time, untill 45 minutes or so.
All spindle teeth seem fine.(the greasy metal spindle never turns)
When cool, it will spin in any spin cycle as I move the dial and jump around manually
It does the same thing every time I have tested it, maybe 15 different times.

Maybe it is the bearings somewhere and when they overheat, it shuts down the bottom part of the transmission, while the top part of the transmission is stripped out permanently??

Can I fix this, or do I need to buy a new washer?
Thank you again,

Brian

Comment by brian s, posted on Oct 30, 2007I am sorry, after reading your response again, I that it was a little over my head, yet maybe on the money. Are you saying that,

The motor is two directional and 1 direction (spins the transmission) doesn't work at all, the other direction (spins the tub) is overheating and tripping the thermal trip.

Please forgive my ignorance about motors, it just now hit me.
Is it possible that the motor would have 2 problems like that?

Any way to check the difference between the motor and the transmission having the problem?

Thank you for your patience,
Brian

Ive never seen a Maytag washer, but I think know the principle. So! I think the motor turns in one direction to wash & the opposite direction to spin. Now, if the transmission is very stiff in the 'wash mode', that could be why its not washing. The motor could be overheating & the thermal trip in the motor cutting off the electricity supply hence having to wait 45 mins for it to cool.
Not too sure! However I think I am on the right track. Let me know please

SOURCE: Maytag top load washing machine model PAV 2300

If you have replaced the spring is the tub over to one side not in the center of the hole there is what they call a snumber ring on the bottom of the base the washer sets on that could be wore out but it is really hard to replace and you will need a special tool to compress the break

SOURCE: how to replace timer knob on Maytag PAV 2300 aww,

This is from another site but does a good job of explaining how to change your timer:
http://www.the-appliance-clinic.com/myttimer.html
The hardest part will be swapping the knob because you have to lift the top of it off and sometimes they can be fiesty.
WORDS OF CAUTION.

DO NOT pull all the wires off of the OLD timer. DO a ONE for ONE wire swap. i.e pull one wire from the old timer... and hook it up to the new one on the exact same terminal as the old timer.

I am querying a item on my creit card which I am supposed to have pyrchased on the 30th October.

Get straight to a branch of the bank which issued the card, if you have not already. There will be some time limit from the date of the statement showing this debit, after which they don't want to accept a dispute and charge back claim from you.

Since the lapttop is new and under warranty please do not try to do much but contact your nearest HCL service dealer to sort out the issue. Your sales dealer should have made it clear to you after installing all the softwares to your satisfaction.
It is possible that the drivers need to be reinstalled to activate the camera and bluetooth.

Remove and check cartridge

For "Guest" who posted on October 30th; try clicking on the following link and going through the troubleshooting suggestions on the HP.com web page:

Cartridge Alignment Troubleshooting

As far as replacing a cartridge and getting a "remove and check" error message, there is more to it (at least sometimes) than having the correct cartridge. If it isn't inserted just right, the electrical contacts between the cartridge and the print carriage will not be complete, resulting in an error.

Also, if there is some ink or other matter on the contacts of either the cartridge or the print carriage, you can get the same result.

Try gently removing the cartridge and putting it back in, making sure that you've got a good contact and the latch that holds the cartridge in is correctly engaged. If that doesn't work, click on the link I posted above and follow Step three: "Perform a ink cartridge cleaning procedure". See if that helps.

Quick question for "Guest" who posted on October 31st; you are using an HP 15 cartridge? I own a 6110 all-in-one and use 56 and 57 cartridges. The product doesn't call for a HP 15. Do you have a 6110v or 6110ix?

Post back your results. Good luck.

Can not Scan

Here is the cause: hpqscnvw.exe has a configuration file which becomes corrupted randomly due to the fact that three separate applications are all trying to access/modify this same file. Thus, it is un-important what model of scanner you are using, even to the point that this error will occur regarless of whether the device itself is even powered on.

Here is the fix:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=445194&prodNameId=445197&swEnvOID=228&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=ma-32957-7

In case this link ever goes dead, search for this application in Google:

HP LaserJet Fix Scan UtilityI discovered this solution in about one hour of research and hacking the hpqscnvw.exe file to find out exactly what it does and why.
When you run this application, ignore the drop-down menu and tell it the I.P. address of your printer. It doesn't matter whether the printer is on or connected or not...just tell it the I.P.
Have Fun.

I attempted to notify HP of my solution:

Presencia: Hello Brian.

Presencia: Welcome to HP Total Care for All-in-One products. My name is Presencia. How may I assist you today?

Presencia: Please go ahead with your query.

Brian Blessing: Hello, Presencia. I have been in touch with you guys allready, Chat session ID: 10011011221461396013

Presencia: Sure.

Brian Blessing: I discovered on my own how to resolve this problem

Brian Blessing: This application:

Presencia: May I have a 2-3 minutes of your time to check the previous chat session?

Brian Blessing: certainly

Presencia: Thank you for being online, Brian.

Brian Blessing: no problem

Brian Blessing: take all the time you need

Brian Blessing: A lot of people have been having this problem, and HP tech support was un-able to help....but I found this application that will fix the problem. I know it was not designed to run with my model of printer, but it works none the less

Presencia: Yes, I understand your concern.

Brian Blessing: It repairs the corrupted configuration files assiciated with the problem

Brian Blessing: Can you read what I type withou ta translator program?

Presencia: I apologize, Brian.

Brian Blessing: I guess not...

Presencia: Do you still have the same 'Scan Cannot be Performed Because Another Program or Computer is Using the Networked Device' error message while scanning?

Brian Blessing: Can you read English by yourself?

Brian Blessing: The whole reason I am here is to let you all know that I found the solution to this problem, so you can pass it on to the thousands more who are having the same issue.

Presencia: Brian, the issue occurs due to Firewall blocking the scanning files.

Presencia: Please turn on the Firewall.

Presencia: I will certainly forward this update to our R& D Groups as well as all our Customers.

Brian Blessing: No, Presencia, it is not. The problem is that the scanning applications' configuration file becomes corrupted. The solution is this application:

Presencia: I appreciate your feedback and suggestion.

Brian Blessing: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=445194&prodNameId=445197&swEnvOID=228&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=ma-32957-7

Presencia: Yes, I found the Utility.

Brian Blessing: It works if you tell the utillity to fix based on the I.P. address of the printer, not the model number drop-down

Presencia: Thank you very much, Brian.

Brian Blessing: The model doesn't matter, just the application

Brian Blessing: No problem

Presencia: We always appreciate all the updates from our customer end.

Brian Blessing: I'm sure you do...how about giving me a job in R&D?

Brian Blessing: lol

Presencia: It would be our pleasure.

Presencia: Please try to join HP as soon as possible.
