Membership cards used to print with black and red, now they only come off with whichever colour is next on the ribbon, so some are pink/blue, others yellow and black!
Check to see if you have the current firmware installed on the printer. You can discover the version by going to Start > All Programs > Datacard Card Printers > Datacard Printer. Look at the bottom of the of the dialog box [Printer Toolbox] for the number following Printer Firmware Version. The number should be above version 24.49.
Datacard released a a new ribbon model that includes a new RFID chip. Printers with the older firmware will not recognize the new chip and thus think the ribbon is black only.

SOURCE: card printer is not printing in colour
You have probably bought fake color ribbons , or you have taqken of the blue cup with the rfid inside.. Wich tells the printer what kind of ribbon installed
SOURCE: data card sp35 plus ribbon break
Three things to try,
1. Try actually flipping the cards over, on side may have a burr that is cutting the ribbon.
2. Try changing the position of print on the card. Most manufactors call this EC
3. Try calibrating the ribbon sensor from with in the driver or the datcard utility that is on the bottom right of you windows desktop

I'm having a similar problem, except some of them randomly print correctly too. Let me know what you find out. Thanks, Glenn [email protected]
