Calculator is writing numbers up side

When I first type into my calculator it writes the numbers upside down on the bottom of the screen first. Then as I continue to type in numbers it will still write them upside down but will continue at the top. I have tried everything that I have read on this website. I don't know what else to do and of course I really need my calculator because I have stats exam tomorrow. Please help me.

SOURCE: Screen is upside down as I type

Was it a prank ?
I have read that to invert the LCD-screen you just flip the polarisation-plate (the plastic film that sits over the LCD display) 180º, that is , upside down.

SOURCE: Numbers are upside down. How do I turn them around?

Hello,
Frankly, I would love to see that. More seriously, now, if problem is software related you may be able to recover you calculator.

Use the link below to install TIConnect software
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/US/productDetail/us_ti_connect.html You can also download the latest OS there.

Install TI connect on your computer and run it to open the main Window. Then connect you calculator to a USB port and, in the TIConnect main window Click the TIDeviceInfo icon. It will try retrieve the info.If it does your calculator is fine. Fill the screen with letters, symbols, numbers, and use TI connect ScreenCapture icon and compare the image with the actual screen. This may serve as a diagnostic tool in case you have to take calculator for repairs.

If it tells you Device Not found , Click communication settings in same pop up window where it said Not found, and Select Device, Select Cable, Select Port and try OK. If you are lucky and it works, you should reinstall the OS, which can be downloaded from education.ti.com. You drag and drop the OS on the TIconnect main window. Calculator must of couse be connected to computer.

If you have problem with TIconnect, use the calc-to-calc cable to transfer the OS of a working calculator. Yous should be on Receive mode [2nd][Link] --->>Receive. (When both calculators are ready hit enter.) The other calculator, you guessed exactly right, must be on Send [2nd][Link][SEND][G:SendOS]. (When both calculators are ready hit [ENTER])

If all that does not work, then it may be time to head for a place of worship to pray for its resurection, or look for a repair shop.
Hope it helps

How to divide 1 2/3 by 3

First make 1 2/3 into a mixed fraction and then divide it by 3.
To make 1 2/3 into a mixed fraction, multiply the whole number, in this case, 1, by the denominator (the bottom number) and then add the numerator (the top number). Thus, we get (1*3+2)/3 or 5/3. Now we have to take 5/3 and divide it by 3. I was taught that in this case, dividing by 3 is the same as multiplying by 1/3. 5/3 x 1/3 = 5/9.

If you have access to a calculator you can always check this. On the calculator, do 2 divided by 3 and add 1. Now take that answer and divide by 3. Write down this answer. Now take 5 and divide by 9. Write down this answer. They should be the same.

Good luck.

Screen upside down

I have seen a lot of questions of this sort but I have never this this inversion in a calculator. You could try to reinstall the Operating system. For the TI83 Plus, the last OS version is 1.19. If it is a TI84Plus/TI83 Plus Silver Edition the OS version number is around version 2.55 MP.

Convert decimal fraction to binary

None of these solutions answer his question. When converting a fraction or any number with decimal places to Binary, the TI-89 gives "Error: Domain error." For example, entering .6875 [2ND][MATH][BASE][BIN] does not work. I haven't found a way to do it with built in functions. In order to do these types of conversions, I use the following method.

Convert: 0.6875 to Binary
- left of decimal is a 0, so write down a 0, then a decimal point: (0.)
- multiply .6875 x 2 = 1.375 left of decimal is 1, write a 1: (0.1)
- drop the 1 and multiply .375 x 2 = .75 left of decimal is 0. write a 0: (0.10)
- multiply .75 x 2 = 1.5 left of decimal is 1, write a 1: (0.101)

- drop the 1, multiple .5 x 2 = 1. left of decimal is 1, write a 1: (0.1011).
- since there is no more fraction, the final answer is (0.1011). Hope this helps.

Convert 4 2/9 to a decimal

Step 1: Find a number you can multiply by the bottom of the fraction to make it 10, or 100, or 1000, or any 1 followed by 0s. Step 2: Multiply both top and bottom by that number. Step 3. Then write down just the top number, putting the decimal place in the correct spot (one space from the right for every zero in the bottom number) Example 1: Express 3/4 as a Decimal Step 1: We can mulitply 4 by 25 to become 100
Step 2: Multiply top and bottom by 25:
×25 left-up-over-arrow.gif 3 = 75

4 100 left-under-over-arrow.gif ×25 Step 3: Write down 75 with the decimal place 2 spaces from the right (because 100 has 2 zeros);
Answer = 0.75

Example 2: Express 3/16 as a Decimal Step 1: We have to mulitply 16 by 625 to become 10,000
Step 2: Multiply top and bottom by 625:
×625 left-up-over-arrow.gif 3 = 1,875

16 10,000 left-under-over-arrow.gif ×625 Step 3: Write down 1875 with the decimal place 4 spaces from the right (because 10,000 has 4 zeros);
Answer = 0.1875

Example 2: Express 1/3 as a Decimal Step 1: There is no way to multiply 3 to become 10 or 100 or any power of 10, but we can calculate an approximate decimal by choosing to multiply by, say, 333
Step 2: Multiply top and bottom by 333:
×333 left-up-over-arrow.gif 1 = 333

3 999 left-under-over-arrow.gif ×333 Step 3: Now, 999 is nearly 1,000, so let us write down 333 with the decimal place 3 spaces from the right (because 1,000 has 3 zeros):
Answer = 0.333 (accurate to only 3 decimal places !

Cannot type numbers etc

Hello,
Press the reset button on the back of the unit. As to the things you want to get rid off, if they are on the top of the screen, they are indicators, to let you see what mode you are using. Some will change when you chande operation mode. There is nothing you can do about it.
However if these symbols are in the center of screen , with numbers to there left (a different number for each) they may be part of the setup procedure. During the setup procedure you are expected to configure your calculator in the mode relevant to the calculations you intend to perform.
What is an upside down p ? Could it be just a b? (as in binary). That is a mode of operation.
Hope it helps.
