I have a side-by-side Maytag fridge with water leaking problems. If I open the freezer side, I can see a slow water drip coming down the inside of the door. On the refrigerator side, water is condensing on the inside wall, and there also appears to be water dripping from a tube that seems to run from the freezer to the refrigerator (the tube can be seen if I pop off the casing at the top of the refrigerator where the temperature settings are).
Not only is there water pooling at the bottom of the fridge, but I've also got some water dripping from the bottom of the outside of the door onto the floor.
This sounds like the water line from the icemaker and the cool water reservior inside the refridgerator side. The line is a rigid plastic hose and could be a leak at one point that is small enough to allow water to run along the line. Also sounds like you have a humidity problem. Check the door seals and wipe them off and apply a thin coat of die-electric grease to the seal. this will help keep it pliable and soft.
The water in the bottom leaks into a trough that is made into the fridge. This usaully evaporates, This is for the auto-defrost. It keeps the water from getting on the floor.
Check to see if the outer door gets hot at the edges. If not, It may not be auto-defrosting.
I would first check the water line first as this seems to be a more serious issue right now. The line is probably loose at one of the connections between the ice maker and water reservior.
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAVE LOCATED THE SOURCE!!! I have Maytag
(Model#MZD2667...) and have water leaking down below the crisper
drawers.
I removed the (3) crisper drawers and unscrewed the water chiller
holding tank located on the back wall of the fridge behind the crisper
drawers. After unscrewing the chiller tank and careful turning it so
that I could closely assess it, I put a cup up to the water dispenser
(located on the freezer door) and began filling the cup while observing
the chiller tank. VOILA! I noticed water slowly dripping along a seam
between two of the three humps.
Questions: Can you purchase a replacement chiller tank or should I attempt to just patch/seal the leak with glue?
Also, how do you remove the 'rigid' water lines that are TIGHTLY
attached to the tank? There are springs inside of the ends of the water
lines right where they attach to the water chiller tank.
Any help please?! This appears to be a VERY common / known issue on the internet with this fridge.
