SOURCE: Inputing scientific notation into my calculator

Hello,

1. To convert a number to scientific equation, use [2nd][Sci]
Exemples 12345 [=] screen shows 12345 Then [2nd][Sci] coverts it to 1.2345 ^04 to the power 4.
2. To enter directly a number in scientific notation (e.g. -1.2345 X10^(-65) a very small number) you use the [EE] key 1.2345[+ /-][EE][+/-]65 shows as -1.2345 -65
1.6X10^(-19) 1.6[EE][+/-]19 shows as 1.6 -19

Hope it helps

SOURCE: syntax error on TI-30XIIS calculator when i press

I had the same problem and finally figured out how to fix it. You need to clear the memory. To do so, first press and release the 2nd button at the top left of the calculator. You will see "2nd" appear on the screen at the lower left. next press the 0 button (which 2nd function is "Reset"). The key to making this work is: do not hold the 2nd button while pressing the 0 button. You have to press it, release it, and then press the 0 button.

How to use ln formula

Almost all scientific calculators have a natural logarithm function, usually marked "ln" or "LN" on the keyboard. With some calculators you press the LN key and then enter the number, with others you enter the number and then press the LN key. How to calculate ln

On scientific calculators there is a key marked [LN]. You use it to calculate the natural logarithm.
On older calculators you enter the number and press the key to get the logarithm. On newer calculators, you may have to press the key LN then enter a positive number to get its logarithm.
It is also possible (you do not say what model and make of calculator you have, so I cannot know) that the LN marking is not on a key but on the faceplate of the calculator (near a key). It that is the case you will have to press a key marked [SHIFT], [2nd F] or [2nd] before the function key.

I want to know how to enter basic logs into the calculator: Example. Log3^9=2 How can you enter this into the calculator?

The 30XA only has logarithm functions for base e and base 10. However, you can calculate the logarithm to any base by using the relationship logb x = log x / log b = ln x / ln b

To calculate log3 of 9, press
9 LOG / 3 LOG =
or
9 LN / 3 LN =

If i needed to enter log 5 to the base 3 into my calculator what buttons would i push?

You can calculate the log of x to any base b by calculating log(x)/log(b) or ln(x)/ln(b). So, to calculate log 5 to the base 3, press
LOG 5 ) / LOG 3 ENTER
or

5^log(subscript 5) 3

The calculator does logarithms only to base 10 (common) and base e (natural). You can calculate the logarithm to any base by using the relationship logb(x) = log(x)/log(b) = ln(x)/ln(b) .

So, one way to calculate this is as follow:

5 ^ ( LN 3 ) / LN 5 ENTER

Note that the calculator automatically opens the parenthesis when you press LN, and you don't need to close them all before pressing ENTER.
