Model 98 under the counter ice maker not making ice. Water does not go to the trays however water is to the valve. Manually put ice in trays and it makes ice slow and will not dump.

If your KitchenAid under-counter ice maker is cycling water but then powers off with the power button flashing several times, there may be a few possible causes. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Check the water supply: Make sure that the water supply line is properly connected and the water is flowing to the ice maker. If the water supply is blocked or not reaching the ice maker, it may not be able to function properly.
Clean the condenser coils: Dirty condenser coils can cause the ice maker to overheat and shut off. Make sure to clean the coils regularly to prevent this issue.
Check the drain pump: If the drain pump is not functioning properly, the ice maker may shut off to prevent water from overflowing. Check the drain pump for any clogs or damage and replace it if necessary.
Check the water inlet valve: The water inlet valve is responsible for letting water into the ice maker. If it is not functioning properly, the ice maker may shut off. Test the valve for continuity using a multimeter and replace it if necessary.
Check the control board: If all other components are functioning properly, the issue may be with the control board. Test the control board for proper voltage and replace it if necessary.
If these troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to call a professional technician to diagnose and repair the problem with your KitchenAid under-counter ice maker.
If the ice maker tray is empty you may have a water valve failure. usually this unit have a dual valve 1 for the dispenser the other one for the ice maker some time a side fail and the entire solenoid have to be replace. the ice maker can also be bad. an easy way for you to test if ice maker is good is by putting water manually inside the ice maker tray depending on how cold is your frig wait about 2 hrs or less if the ice maker cycles and drop ice then water solenoid is the problem if not then replace ice maker.
Put some water in the tray. Let it freeze and once frozen will the ice then empty into the ice bin? If yes then the problem is possibly one side of the water control valve is defective. This is not the correct water control valve for your model number. HERE You need to provide the correct model number first.
What is the model number? I am here should you need me, Thanks John Tripp Appliance 911
Either the ice maker is not calling for water or the ice maker water valve is not working, there are many different types of water valves so its very dificult to tell you what to do without a model number or picture of the valve, but generaly speaking if you VERY CAREFULLY put 120V to a water valve it should open and alow water to flow, you can try this for the valve that has a water line going to the ice maker and see if it lets water go to the ice maker, sometimes there are two valves that must open, one main valve and then another for either the water dispensor or the ice maker. a better first test might be to test the water valve for resistance across the coil and compair it to another coil and see if its close-ish. also you can test some ice makers and see if they are putting 120V to the water valve by bypassing the bimetal and causing the ice maker to go into a cycle, but again a model number is required to know what kind of ice maker you have., even a picture would help
If your ice maker water valve is dripping like an old faucet it can build ice in the spout causing the water to be blocked wen the ice maker powers up the water valve for 7 seconds to fill the ice mold. Either that or the water valve itself is bad physically or electrically.
make sure you have strong water pressure to the frig.
Do the ice maker have a shutoff arm? or a shutoff switch? either way make sure it is on. by now there should be water in the icemaker tray. if not then manually pour 1/2 cup of water into the icemaker. if it does make ice then replace the water fill valve.
if there is ice still in the ice maker tray you still have to check the water fill valve before we can say the icemaker doesn't work.
need a meter to check the continunity of the water vavle. if the valve is open repalce valve, if there is continunity the the valve is good.
hope this is helpful. if you cant do this ask a friend who is an electrician to help you
you need to troubleshoot the problem, if the wire arm that tells the ice maker to stop making ice when full is in the upright position the ice maker will not make ice. the problem has to be either the switch on this arm malfunction. but probably in MOST cases it is your electronic water valve which has gone out. this is located on the water supply line on the back of the fridge at the bottom probably behind some cardboard or plastic. it is the same kind of water valve as a dishwasher uses, if it malfunctions it will not deliver water to your tray, manually fill the tray and put the arm down, if the maker dispenses the ice out of the tray, chances are your electronic valve is broken.
my under the counter ice machine makes very little ice. we just paid $600 to have a repairman put a new motor in it (although I don't think that was ever the problem) because it would always run, it was just not making any volume of ice. now it's been fixed and the repairman brought it back under th counter yesterday and it's STILL not making more than maybe 1 cup of ice in over 24 hours. I can hear the water running when Iopen it, but just don't get the bin full of ice like it used to get. HELP!!
