I have checked the settings and don't know what I am doing wrong. I don't know if it is that I need it on a certain channel but even changing the channel doesn't seem to work. I have tried to get to the menu with the dvd in and out. Please help!

I picked up a LG DV276 DVD Player here in Australia but I am from the
United States so I own region 1 DVDs. I unlocked my new player by
instead 1. Open the tray. 2. Press 0 0 0 0 on the remote and a Menu
will appear. 3. Press 0 for region free. 4. Press pause and power off.
I can play everything now, Aussie and US DVDs. Thanks LJ66.

Hi, have you tried this? It worked on my LG player.
1. Open DVD tray
2. Press "0000" on the remote.
3. A screen will appear saying NEW REGION CODE displaying the current one.
4. Press "0" for all zones.
5. Press the "select" button on the remote.
6. Close the CD tray.
7. Power off

PROGRESIVE SCAN will only work with an HD TV and it does not work via the scart lead. Select off for it if you have an old TV. If you can't get it to stop coming on by doing what it says to do, then you have an electrical fault on the LG.
PROGRESIVE SCAN itself is a method of getting high quality images on HD TV's via the special sockets at the back of the DVD.

Turn on the unit and open the tray. Press 0000 on the remote to access the DVD region code selector.
Change the EEPRom code to 0 to remove the region lock.
Press Pause to exit the screen and your LG V271 should now be region free.
