Great question.
You could start with the number of quarters, which can be 0, 1, or 2.
If there are 0 quarters, then you only have dimes, nickels, and pennies to worry about. You can have 0 to 5 dimes. There can be 0 to 11 nickels. For pennies, there can be 1, 6, 11, 16, 21, 26, 31, 36, 41, 46, 51 and 56.
Time to work out lots of combinations!
Sounds like a summative project for a data management or statistics course or a great computer programming assignment;)
Good luck,
Paul
