I have got a bmw 3.18 E36 and a couple of days ago I did some work and disconnected my battery. When I reconnected the battery and wanted to disable the alarm, my left indicator kept burning. I think it is a relay under my dashboard, but when I tried to check the relay, I saw that the whole system is in a black box and this is sealed. So now I need to know if I need to replace the whole system or if there is another solution.

Disconnect the battery, have the ignition key turned to the "on" position then reconnect the battery.

When you disconnect your battery and then reconnect it again, it disables the radio. This is an anti-theft protection for your car radio.
The enable your radio the activation code is in your vehicle owner's manual. If you do not have this code you need to go to your BMW service centre and get them to enter this code for you.

1st when the airbag light is on the system is disabled, so if u have an accident they will not work, as to the common cause read below.
When the airbag light is on it means a fault has occurred in the system and the airbag diagnostic monitor has disabled the system, the most common problem that turns the light on is a break in the connection to the steering wheel mounted airbag, this is due to a rotating ribbon contact that breaks under the steering wheel that connects the airbag to the wiring harness and the diagnostic monitor, the part is called th clock spring contact, a coiled up ribbon electrical contact that turns with the wheel

Sounds like a stuck thermostat, if both hoses are warm to the touch evenly, then the thermo is doing ok, possibly sticks once in a while. You might want to flush the system, if you are using stop leak, you have a problem that now needs attention.

e36 m3 cab flat battery.i have now fitted a new 1 and my alarm will not work and the car is immobilised.the key fob is black with 1 button in the centre and the car is a 1995 can you help.

try locking and unlocking the car with the key 3 times slowly ,other than that i have no idea ?? another trick is to disconnect battery and join the cables together for a few minutes to discharge any capacitors that may be holding a charge in the computer..Only other thing i can think of is the main dealers who have the right connectors and software to re set it all .sorry i havent been of any help

Try locking with key in drivers door lock the urn to unlock position and hold 15 seconds should turn off alarm

BMW E36 immobilizer Hope the following will help. Had similar problems. The transmitter buttons on keys is for central locking and alarm. Inside the key at the front there is a small electronic/magnetic chip that looks like a block. About 8mm long, 2mm deep and 4mm wide, not connected to any pc board. This is the immobilizer. It must match the receiver that is located behind the ignition switch. If it is loose and too far away from the receiver it won?t deactivate it. If you made a spare key it will switch on electrics but won?t start the car. If you don?t have an immobilizer chip any alarm shop will be able to program a new chip or install a new pair for your keys. There is a way to disable the immobilizer but rather have it fix and protect your car. I read an article somewhere (perhaps bmw e36 blog) of people removing this immobilizer. Good luck
