When I turn my TV on, it only comes on about one out of four times. The other times it either doens't turn on at all or turns on and displays a blue screen. Usually when the blue screen appears I can turn it off and back on and most times it comes on normally. If I can't get it to turn on at all i can hear the sound of a fan near the back of the TV and the ONLY way I can get it to stop is to unplug the power source and plug it back in, then the TV turns on normally. It's just really a hassle to deal with one of these issues every time I want to sit down and watch TV. Any ideas on what will fix this?

After 11 years???? OMG This set is a tired pup and should be put to reast. My experience with older sets and your complains are all capacitor problems and is only gonna get worse as the first time around repair will take several capacitors to repair. This set has no user serviceable parts inside so you should not attempt a repair suchj as this on your own.. This repair if you decide to go through the first time will be About 300 to 600 bucks the first time and cost will continue to raise till the sets put to sleep. Good luck

Nope the bulb is fine. This set sucks up dust and contaminates the light engine. Rarley does blowing the set out with compressed air fix this, The light engine can be disassembled and cleaned but this is best left to someone who has done this once before. Because if it gets messed up you get to buy a $1500.00 light engine

first. unplug the set for 5 minutes and see if it will reboot. if it does not the you have 2 problems, the chassis is also bad. next open the lamp door cover, it is behind the speaker grill, and behind the lamp door.
take out the lamp and see if it has broken on the inside if it has it needs to be replaced. mits will send you one i believe it is about 100.00 the number is 915P020010. if the lamp looks ok then the color wheel has probably fallen apart.if this is the case the light engine need to be repaired. check out www.tv-techs.com

Press the Menu Key on your remote. If your menu shows clearly on the screen, then there is a problem with your source.

that means your lamp it is getting to the end of its life.
sometimes even if the lamp still good the TV will send you that message because that timer is closed to 5000 hours
What you can do is open the lamp door, closed again and the tv will ask you if you replaced it the lamp, and just say yes and that sign will go away
or just simple replace the lamp. 915P020010
