F20 error code

I was given this washer that needs fixed, it gets the f20 error code. the washer is on my patio right now. i hooked a hose up to the cold inlet and started the machine. water was coming out of the hot inlet line. I want to see if i can repair it before i move it into the house. Not sure if the water coming out the hot line is 'the' problem or is just doing this because the water lines arent hooked up.

Copied from the net..............

The "F20" fault code is indicating NO WATER IS BEING DETECTED ENTERING THE WASHER OR THE PRESSURE SWITCH IS NOT TRIPPING OR SENSING A TRIP.

If there is no water in the unit:

Make sure that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way and water enters.

Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves.

Verify inlet valve operation.

If there is water in the unit:

Verify drain pump operation.

Verify that the pressure switch hose is in good condition and properly connected to tub and pressure switch.

Verify there is not a siphon problem.

Press STOP twice to clear the display. The machine will drain for 3 minutes before unlocking the door.

Unplug washer or disconnect power.

Verify wire harness connections to inlet valves, pressure switch, drain pump and Central Control Unit (CCU).

Check all hoses for possible leaks.

Plug in washer or reconnect power

Verify pressure switch operation.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer if water will entering the machine and not siphon out.

cheers

SOURCE: Kenmore HE2T F20 plus Water leakage when tub starts to fill

Have you read by advice on how to diagnose this problem? Click on the following link:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r1491905-f20_error_code_whirlpool_duet_kenmore

If you HAVE water entering the wash tub, first verify that you do not have a siphoning condition. This is where the drain line does not have the proper air gap to drain properly and creates a vacuum on the drain line. This will cause drain problems and may prevent the washer from filling all the way. Or, you may have trouble maintaining the water level. When you stated you had water leaking, is this a visible leak? Or, do you have water slowly draining from the tub? Double check your drain line to be sure.

Next, check the drain pump to ensure it is not clogged or obstructed which minimizes drain flow. Also, make sure the pump is running. Remove the access cover and clean out the pump reservoir. In addition, check the drain line from the bottom of the wash tub to the inlet side of the drain pump. I have personally found small articles of clothing stuck in this line, preventing drain flow.

Read through the link thoroughly. If you require additional assistance, please let me know before rating the solution. I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: Just purchased Kenmore 800 washing machine - no warm water

If you suspect you have a defective Water Inlet valve (also known as a FILL valve or MIXING valve) it can easily be diagnosed by performing the following steps:

- First, make sure the water taps are turned on all the way, and the fill hoses are not kinked in anyway. If everything checks okay, proceed to the next step.
- Now, turn the water taps off, disconnect the fill hoses from the back of the washer and place them in the wash tub. Turn the taps back on and make sure you have proper and forceful water flow (minimum water pressure should be 10-25PSI).
- Check the sediment screens on the Water Inlet valve on the back of the washer. Sometimes these screens will clog with rust or sediment and prevent water flow. Cleaning with some distilled vinegar works well.

If you’ve attempted all the steps above, but still have no luck, more than likely the inlet valve is bad and requires replacement. Please, read all instructions thoroughly BEFORE attempting. This is a simple repair that any “Do-It-Yourselfer” can accomplish. Follow the steps provided:

1. Unplug washing machine.

2. Remove console. This can be accomplished in one of two ways depending on which type of console you have.

a. If the console has removable end caps, the caps lift off by prying on the top from the back of the washer. The cap will pull off towards you as you are facing the unit from the front of the washer. There will be a screw under each end cap that you will need to remove.

b. If the console does not have removable end caps, you will need to slide a putty knife under the front corner of each side and push in while lifting up. There is a retaining clip under each side that has to be released.

3. Once the console has been released it will lift up and fold back over the back of the washer in its resting position. Use care not to stress the small plastic hinges that hold it on. They can break easily.

4. Under the console will be two large brass colored clips. Take a large flat blade screwdriver and place it in the groove of the clip on the washer top. With the screwdriver firmly in the groove, push away from you towards the back of the washer. This will release the clips.

5. Disconnect the lid switch connector plug. This is the white colored plug on the washer top under the console.

6. Remove the washer casing. Open the lid of the washer. Using one hand, grip under the front rim of the washer opening. Do not grab the wash tub, just the casing. Tilt the washer case from the back first towards you, slide forward slightly, and then lift up. The entire case comes off exposing the wash tub and components.

7. The inlet valve is located on the back panel with two or more sets of electrical connectors attached to it. The connectors are usually color-coded to indicate which valve is HOT and which valve is COLD (In the case of a Mixing Valve, you may have additional electrical connectors). Remove the connectors and check the contacts for corrosion. Sometimes a good cleaning can restore a valve solenoid to working order. (You may want to label the connectors, if necessary, to ensure you know how they go back on).

8. Disconnect the small rubber water hose(s) attached to valve with a pair of pliers to release the hose clamps. Inspect the hose(s) for any evidence of cracking.

9. With the water hose(s) removed, loosen the mounting screw(s) and the inlet valve comes off.

10. Re-install new inlet valve following these steps in reverse order. Pay careful attention to make sure you correctly connect the HOT & COLD electrical connections (RED is usually the HOT water side). Make sure all hoses are fitted back in place and the hose clamps are snug.

11. Re-install washer case. With the lid of the washer open, place grasp case under front rim and place it on the washer frame. While looking down through the washer lid opening, make sure the front lip of the case is placed UNDER the washer frame and rocked back onto the frame to ensure that the small cleats on the frame fit into the slotted grooves on the washer case base. If you do not get the case seated correctly it will rattle and vibrate while the washer is in operation.

12. Make the back of the washer fits into the washer casing on each side and reinsert the brass clips. Place the clip into the slot on the back of the washer first, and then forcefully push it into the opening on top of the washer. It will snap back into to place.

13. REINSTALL LID SWITCH CONNECTOR. It is easy to forget. If you do not reconnect it, the washer will not work correctly.

14. Reinstall console.

Code f 20 what does that mean and how can I fix it.

A possible solution to an f 20 fill error for a whirlpool duet washing machine. Blow out the pressure hose that connects to the pressure switch.

Before doing any of these fixes first ask yourself if you have over loaded the machine. Too many Bulky - heavy items will cause this same message.
How to fix Whirlpool Duet F20 Error:
Whirlpool uses a flow meter that detects the flow of water entering the washer. If this flow meter does not detect the correct amount of water entering the washer it will sound the F20 error code. Often this repair can be made with out calling an appliance repairman and without ordering parts. Start by removing the washer fill hoses; both the cold and the hot water hoses. Check for proper water pressure from the house. To do so, turn the water on and put the hose inside the washer or a bucket.
If water pressure is good, check the water valve inlet screens. Most residential washing machines have inlet screens. The screens prevent minerals from clogging the solenoid. With the hoses removed, you can visually inspect the water inlet screens. If the water valve screens are clear the inlet valve with the screens itself will need to be replaced. To replace the water valve, remove the top of the washing machine. Three screws hold the top down. The screws that hold the top down are on the back of the top panel. Once removed the top will slide back and off. Now remove the wire harness that connects to the valve. One screw holds the valve to the washers cabinet. Removing the screw and sliding the valve over will release the valve from the back panel enabling you to complete your repair.
One last thing to check is the fill hoses. These front load duet washers call for a lot of water quickly. So if you have stainless steel braided flood-safe hoses, they will trip for no reason at all. Replace these flood safe hoses with more traditional hoses.

Getting f20 error code, how to check flow meter operation

Check for stuck socks or something just under the door seal at the bottom of the drum. Check filter for blockage and all outlet pipes. Check the pressure switch hose for any holes as it may have rubbed on the drum and created a small hole in it. Make sure flow meter is level and not at any angle.

Maytag Epic Z Washer F-20, Water Inlet replaced, still F-20 Error

Chris an F-20 is usually a clogged filter on duet washers. Did you go by the tech sheet in your machine? It gives the codes and remedys and is in a jacket behind the kickplate which you remove to get to the filter. You will need a quarter inch nutdriver to gain access.

F20 error code

Hi.

F20 means that there is a water inlet problem:

Reasons for error F20:
(Water Inlet Problem-no water or insufficient
water supply) Select PAUSE/CANCEL twice to cancel the cycle
Unplug washer or disconnect power.

Check the following:
Are water faucets completely turned on?
Are screens at inlet hose connection to washer
clogged? Are water inlet hoses kinked? Are water inlet hoses frozen?

If that does not help inlet valve, pressure switch and control module must be tested. The defective part must be replaced.

Here the tech sheet.

I am having trouble with my washer. It is showing the F28 error code and then when I get that fixed, it shows the F20 error code. Can you please tell me what to do to get it running again. Thanks

F20 I believe is low water flow. On the intake fitting on the back of the machine where the hot and cold hose hook up there is a fine screen inside the fitting on the machine. My cold water screen was clogged from stuff in old pipes. Cleaned it and no more e F20
