I recently moved the TV to another room (it got bounced around a bit). The picture was fine initially. Over the course of one week, I lost the picture. First, colored lines began showing up at the bottom of the screen. Then it just disappeared. Now all I have is three curved lines (red, blue, green) arcing across the screen from one bottom corner to the other. The audio remains intact.
If I need to access the software, I do not have any image making this rather difficult. Any suggestions? Thanks...
Have the same prob. with this Rca model P56812BL. My son brought it home from a neighbor who had it out on trash day. The power cord was cut. He re-wired power cord, plugged in and after pushing a few menu buttons (no remote) got a dvd working with a not bad pic. Didn't leave running for long. A few days later moved unit to his college apartment. Quite the ordeal, carried up 6 steps and slid down 8 steps. Hooked up to cable box in apt. and had a nice pic. When trying to move it closer to the wall the wiring pulled apart, sparked and tripped circuit. Started over, re-wiring power cord, plugged in, had a pic but lost it when trying to adjust color. (rainbow lines running across bottom of screen). Hit a bunch of buttons for a half hour until pic finally came back. Working again, he put a dvd in the PS2 which worked for a while but then back to the rainbow lines (still have audio). Couldn't get pic back. All reading I've been doing leads to convergence prob. which sounds like a $300-$400 MIN. fix. Obviously garbage picking college kid can't afford this and wasted a LOT of energy getting this thing into apt. Knew it was too good to be true! Long story but any chance of this being something fixable on a very limited budget. He and his brother were temporarily ecstatic at the thought of football Sunday on the big screen. That is a screen saver. It usually comes on when you have a fixed picture that isn't moving that has been on the TV for 5 minutes or you have lost the signal. This is to keep the image from burning into the screen.
The color wheel is your suspect.......usually whines a bit
when bad. In a quiet room, you can hear it when the TV is powered on or off. It spins at 9,000 rpm ( wears out the bearing).
The lamp will not exhibit those symptoms....
the tv got dust when placed out say u need to clean the inside of the light engine, the lamp too but be careful u must use only methylated spirit with a new soft dry bristle brush caution if u touch the lamp with your hands u will shorten its life. the color wheel inside the light engine needs to be cleaned the same way too make sure u do not spill any thing in the components and of course the tv must be off nand left to dry before restarting
It could be that the installer did not tighten the mounting bolts sufficiently to make a seal. Taking the cover off the unit inside the coach, you should be able to see four mounting bolts that are inserted through springs between their heads and the ac unit.
Those mounting bolts are what pulls the AC unit snug against the gasket. The instructions say not to overtighten them when you first install them because you need to leave space to tighten them later as the gasket ages and loses its "spring". The gasket also, over time, compresses under the weight of the AC sitting on the roof "bouncing" as you drive down the road, losing the seal.
So that you have room to tighten them later, the springs on those mounting bolts should not be compressed all the way. However the bolts also need to be snug enough initially to make the seal and not just barely threaded in. You should not compress the gasket more than 50% on initial install, but it should be compressed a bit.
Try tightening them a bit with a socket wrench (tighten all 4 to an equal depth), then spray the roof area around the AC with a garden hose to see if you still have the leak.
It's the fact that people say it loud and so your mic picks it up out of the reciever and plays it again and then the same happens to other people and then it continues on and on. Also it could be doing this because the sound bounces off the Tv if your close to it.
I have seen this symptom a lot recently. There is a 9 volt regulator on the small signal board, and the output voltage on this IC has dropped down to about 8 volts, which causes that symptom. Replacing that regulator should cure your problem, and when I make a housecall for a set like that I charge $150, although I hear that the average service center charges a lot more than that. I also believe that it is never a good idea to leave a projection TV on all the time, so whoever told you that has no idea what they are talking about.
