Apparently a mechanical-logical problem that produces an "overshoot" of the paper beyond its normal "start printing" position, which triggers a "paper jam" error message, as the carriage is stopped from moving from tha right station to the left. Would appear as though a sensor is not functioning to tell the machine that the paper reached the start print" position, hence stop advancing. Or, perhaps, a rotational misalignment between some roller and the transparent rotation counter wheel.

The fault is the paper stop sensor is broken. Have the same problem myself. I don't think there is an easy solution to this as the sensor arm will have to be replaced and I think the m/c would have to be stripped down to do it. Nice to know if anybody has any ideas though.

I had this problem at work several times. Unplug your printer from the back, wait 2 or 3 minutes, plug back in, problem solved! Also, if this doesn't work, (I'm at home now), but I believe that I got that info from the HP troubleshooting website. Good Luck!
