My Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 only flashes 5 blue lights

My scanner will only flash 5 blue lights when I push the scan button and it will not scan. I've tried turning it off/on and pulled the power plug out for > 1 minute with no fix. Any ideas?????

I got off the phone with Fujitsu and i was told you need to make sure that the ScanSnap Icon is in the system tray without a Red Line cross through it, so if it is not in your system tray start the snap scan program, if it's disabled re-enable it and you should be good.

Something similar happened to me and I wasted a lot of time trying to figure it out.

The scanning program needs to be active/on in order to operate. The Technician suggested, via chat (www.fcpa.com), taking the following steps if there was not a blue icon surrounding an "S" in my lower right tray. I followed his directions and the unit started working as soon as the icon appeared.

    Tech:
Please look at the bottom right corner of your computer screen and see if you have the ScanSnap Manager icon there.
    Tech:
The icon looks like a blue circle with an "S" on the center
    Me:
    There is no icon.
    Tech:
    OK.
    Tech:
    Please try this.
    Tech:
Go to Start > All Programs > ScanSnap Manager > ScanSnap Manager
    Tech:
Doing this will not open any window, but look on the bottom right if an icon for the ScanSnap Manager will appear

Machine will not scan, blue light only blinks.

I have had this problem before also. What I ended up doing was shutting down my computer, turning on the scanner opening it all up so you can load it and ensure it is hooked up to the computer, restart the computer, open the program itself but then scan by pushing the flashing button on the machine, not using the program. I am not sure if yours will work this way or not but good luck.

I had a similar problem. All I did was unplug the USB cable from the scanner and reattach it. Sometimes I would have to close scansnap (blue "S" icon in the sys tray at the bottom right), and then power on the scanner.

My ScanSnap has worked flawlessly for years. I just tried to scan and got the following message: undefined error occurred.(0xffffdcf7) Won't scan. Tried to reboot - no luck. Let me know...

The same thing happened to me. In a nutshell, you have to install new drivers. Have you recently upgraded your system to SnowLeopard or Lion? I did, and that's what went wrong.

To do:
1. Make sure you have the latest ScanSnap manager: http://www.fujitsu.com/global/support/computing/peripheral/scanners/drivers/mac.html
Install that.
2. Get the Lion update: http://www.fujitsu.com/global/support/computing/peripheral/scanners/drivers/mac-mg22.html
Install that.
3. Open the new ScanSnap Manager (v 2.2). Delete the old one from your dock, so you don't get confused.
4. Scan away.

Cannot Scan, already tried unlugging power/USB (blue light is on)

I'm going through the same problem. You will have to uninstall all of the software and go over each step to reinstall it. Follow them exactly. If you do step 4 before step 3, you could end up in this situation. Make sure the Scansnap isnt plugged in while you're reinstalling it.

Also, try other USB ports.
