I got new checks and the print is now not lined up on the lines when it prints, also, the printer does not recognize the paper

I am printing from QuickBooks. The checks no longer print on line, they are a few lines below where they should be. Also it takes several attempts before the printer will recognize the paper and actually print the check. It tells me that the wrong kind of paper is in the printer.

Quickbooks has a print option where you can adjust how the checks print. I have always made a copy of the blank check and adjust the settings until it prints on the line. If you keep making adjustments you can get it to print almost
perfectly.

This happens when your print head gets dirty. Just claening the print head should solve your problem. To do this: Click start button > click Printers and faxes. > Right the printer icon > click properties > Here you should find something like "Head cleaning" or "Clean the print head". This option can be used to clean the priter head automatically. If it does not work, you can manualy take out the cartridge and dip it in to IPA (Isopropyle alcohol) solution would clean the head[dip the head only not the complete cartridge]. After a few minutes (10-20) you can fit the dry cartridge the printer. If nothing works try changing the cartridges. Note: When the ink is running out this may occur. The only thing we can do is to replace the cartridge.

SOURCE: printer prints a line across the paper around three inch from the left hand side of the page.

Check your Toner Carts.
Is the line a certain color?
Black perhaps?

Lift the door of the toner cart.
If you see a streak on your toner drum, you will see a streak on your paperwork.

Look at your fuser as well.
Is there a problem with the big orange roller?
BEWARE! Don't touch the fuser roller its EXTREMELY HOT!
Let the printer cool down before inspecting.

Hi

Basics first (which you may have already considered).

Explore the Canon Printer software settings.

You need to adjust the Printing Preferences when switching from paper printing to photo paper printing.

Also look at the Print quality and colour saturation settings and try to print in Fine or High Quality when printing on photo paper

If none of the solve the problem, check if something is not stuck in the paper input tray and pressing the photo paper to close agasinst the scanner.

Make sure the paper is properly centered and cradled with the addjusble paper guide on the In Tray.

If tall new none of this works, install new cartridges and conduct Nozzle Check and Print Head Cleaning maintenance and then test print again.

I hope this helps.

When I print blue horizontal lines appear or being printed as wel

Do the cartridges ride on the printing carriage, or do they plug in somewhere else in the machine and have hoses that run the ink to the print head? If they ride on the printing carriage and the cartridge is new, there could be a short in the printer and it needs repair. Check if there's ink smeared on the print head or part of the printer. Generously clean the print heads with lots of paper towels and rubbing alcohol. If that doesn't work, to see if it's an issue with computer, print a test page from the printer, but don't send the print job from the computer. You need a print job generated from inside the printer itself. Not every printer can do this, but try pressing paper feed, holding down paper feed and power, or holding down cancel and power. If the blue lines disappear then but they didn't when you cleaned the heads, it's a software issue.

Missing lines and some lines have only half the characters

Solution one: Make sure the paper is appropriate for the print job Using the wrong paper for the print job might cause the colors to be faded or dull.
  1. Many papers have printing and non-printing sides. Make sure to load the paper with the print side facing down.

Solution two: Check estimated ink level Use the following steps to check the ink level.
  1. From HP Solution Center, click Settings , and then click Printer Toolbox . The toolbox appears. NOTE: The toolbox can also be opened from the Print Properties dialog box. In the Print Properties dialog box, select Printing Preferences , click the Features tab, and then click Printer Services .

  3. Click the Features tab, and then select the print quality and paper type settings that match the print job.
  4. Click OK to accept the new settings.
  5. Click Print to send the print job.

Will not Print

Try a hardware check of the printer first. To check the hardware of the printer, do the following:
  1. Switch off the printer.
  2. Load one sheet of paper into the paper feeder.
  3. Press the Power button and the Paper Feed button at the same time and hold them both down for three seconds. Then release the Power button only.
  4. When the printer begins to print, release the Paper Feed button. A page will be printed. The page should contain some text at the top and a series of horizontal color lines (cyan, magenta and yellow) below the text, with a thick black line below the colored lines. All the lines should be solid.
  5. When the test is complete, switch off the printer. NOTE: If you do not switch off the printer, it will continue to print.
