I have the same problem my tv is a 2003 model and I am on my 3rd light engine. I need an economical repair for this. Sears wants $1300.00.

  • helokidies Dec 18, 2007

Thank you for the new solution, I had called Hitachi and they gave me the run around, now I will try harder and be more persistant. Thank you very much!!

  • crayjr Apr 30, 2008

I just contacted Hitachi Customer Relations Department at 800-654-7013 and was told that because my 50v500 50 in. HDTV-Ready LCD television is out of warranty, I am out of luck as far as Hitachi helping with the cost of the light engine. After I talked to my local dealer to get a price, they suggested I call Hitachi back and try again. I did and got the same results. My set is between 4-5 years old.

  • Anonymous May 02, 2008

It is May 2, 2008. I have a red halo in the centre of my screen on the 50 inch. The warranty runs out on the 4th of May this year. I called the Hitachi warranty repair people here in town on the 3rd of April and they said it was the light engine too. A tech came out and looked at it and they have a purchase order from Hitachi but they haven't received the part yet. I'd say Hitachi is the problem. I wil never purchase a TV with their name on it again. I haven't even spoken to Hitachi yet as I've dealt with thme before over this TV and they are a pain!

I had the same problem a red halo that eventually led to complete discoloration. I called Hitachi and they had their local rep come out and look, they said it would cost $400 to install $1500 new light engine. Then a couple of months ago, I read a post on this site (Varian - Feb. 14, 2008 - suggesting Hitachi Customer Relations at 800-654 7013 was providing the light engine without charge).

So, I called them again and was not able to persuade them to cover my Hitachi LCD projection (50V500). It appears Hitachi has a poor record with their Light Engine as well all of their new generation TV. They have since stopped selling the LCD projection, but they are into plasma and LCD TV and likewise do not seem to have a good track record - as I hear from other users.

I did the smart thing and switched over to a Sony XBR4 Bravia 52" LCD TV 1080p HD at a reduced price (Approximately $2800 from Amazon.com!). My Hitachi cost me about $ 3600 at a Circuit City Store. Therefore, no Hitachi products for me and not from Circuit City, since, Circuit City asked for $4000 for the same Sony TV, I bought from Amazon, which included delivery and installation. Circuit City would add another $80 for delivery.

I have a Hitachi Ultravision 50V710 projection LCD HDTV. I replaced the

lamp in early Febuary and immediate had a large yellow spot that covered

75 % of the screen. I had the local Hitachi recommended service company

to advise the problem. They told me that they had seen this many times,

the problem was the Optical Block Assembly(color engine). They told me

they would speak with customer realations to get the part at no charge.

They were unable and told me to call customer service. They told me there

was no problem with that model and would not do anything. I was told to

call Circuit City because I had the exended warranty plan and had reported

a small yellow spot under the warranty period. I was told by Circuit City

customer relations that I was out of warranty. I went back to Hitachi again

and was told again no. I then went to the Circuit City that I had purchased

all my consumer electronics for the past 18 years and spoke with the

operations mgr. He told me would look into for me and of course i have

never heard from him or had my calls or emails returned. So I went back to

the local Hitachi service company to pay for the repair, after another 2 weeks i was told that they can no longer get that part from Hitachi and told

me that they could send the part out for a rebuild.

Does any one know if this true and have any suggestions? The tv is only 3 yrs old for which I paid $ 3,000.00

  • Anonymous May 28, 2008

I have a Hitachi 60V500A with the same problem. I replaced the lamp two months ago and the picture was fine. Now the colors are awful and cannot be adjusted. I called Hitachi customer service twice and they say "sorry". I will never buy a Hitachi product again. This TV was $ 4500 at Conn's. Tell everyone you know that Hitachi does noe have a good track record TV's.

  • drewmarilyn Jul 02, 2008

I just wanted to let everyone know, I too have purchased the 50V500 Hitachi television about 4 years ago, paid about $3500.00 for it. From day one I have problems with the TV, even had the original switched out a month after purchasing from Sears. I had the same red cloud in the center of the screen. I first replaced the bulb at $250.00 because I was out of warranty. I then did some research and saw how many similar situations with the same TV. Even had a friend with the same TV and she just got frustrated and dumped hers and bought a replacement Sony. Anyway, found out that it was infact the light engine. I contacted Hitachi at their customer relations dept, 800-654-7013. They sent out my service repair company a new light engine at no cost to me, I had to pay the labor which was about $250.00. But even still I was thankful just to have that red cloud gone. Now here I am 1 1/2 years later with a new problem, I now have double images anytime there are letters or numbers on the screen. (Video games esp.) I do not have a "Sharp" image when watching tv either. My service repair company confirmed again it was a crack in the light engine. So here we go again. I contacted Hitachi and they were willing to send out another replacement light engine at no cost to me. Although, frustrated I am pleased with Hitachi and their willingness to back up their faulty product and make me a satisfied customer. This is about a $1500 part, I'm gonna give it one more try!

  • rlion55 Jul 07, 2008

I have a Hitachi 50V500 and the light engine was replaced twice and the third time was out of warrantee. I stuck the TV in a corner and have not turned it on for over a year. I am sick about the fact that this is a common problem and feel like I have been taken by Hitachi. They should have recalled this product like the car manufactures do and replace it. Place my complaint on your list as the red on my TV migrated as a ball the size of a basketball in the middle of my screen.

  • Anonymous Jul 12, 2008

I do have the same problem with mi lcd,the screen has the blue shadow top and bottom , and i think soon they will merge and the screen will turn blue completely

  • lassc Jul 16, 2008

I feel everyones pain here!!! I contacted Hitachi via email and I was told to contact a Hitachi Service Center which I did and the technician reported the blue spot that appears in the uppper left corner of my 60V500A (3.5 yrs old) was associated wit the light engine.

Eventually, I was contacted by Hitachi Customer Relations and I was told that they will NOT do anything at all. I am on my own. Customer Relations told me that only a small number of owners have had this problem and that is is considered "Normal" for failures of this type for a $4500.00 LCD TV. I told them that there is a expectation that a $4500.00 TV should perform well beyond 3.5 yrs and I might as well have been talking to a Crash Dummy.

I am convinced that Hitachi definitely is not in the business of taking care of it's customers!!! at least some of you have been met half way by being provided the part at no cost, but it also seems there are more of us that have not even been afforded that!!!

I just thought I would add my two cents worth.

    I have a Hitachi 50VS69A .

    16 months old

I have a blue streak across the top right side. Last friday I had to buy a new lamp cause mine blew.cost me $350.00 Now my blue streak has grown and now covers 75% of my screen. I paid alot of money for this tv, and just learned that a lamp only has a life span of 6000 hrs... which means every 3yrs aprox id have to buy another lamp.. If I had known this tv would cost more to maintain I sure would not have bought it.Does anyone know what cause the blue steak and what does it cost to fix?

  • Anonymous Aug 13, 2008

Hello. On mine, I have no picture. When you turn it on, both fans briefly come on, and the screen will flicker for a moment. Then it turns on off, and the TEMP light blinks. I have already replaced both fans, and the Power P.W.B. board. Any ideas what to try next?

    Thanks for any help!!

  • smckd Aug 14, 2008

Same problem here - I've researched this all over and this is a widespread problem. Red glow in right-center of screen, persists despite replacing lamp unit.

Tell people you know, but be sure to tell all salespeople of your dissatisfaction with Hitachi products.

  • Anonymous Aug 18, 2008

Well as it turns out... the light engine is whats cause these TV's to have blue and red streaks ect.... I contact Hitachi they say they will pay for parts to fix it but will not pay for labor... either way your paying.

So far this TV has cost 350.00 for a new lamp and 250.00 for labor to replace light engine.

Total $600.00 for a TV that is not even 2 yrs old. What a bunch of BS... I hope no one buys a Hitachi !! would like to get word out of all the hassle !!

  • sgrinker Sep 11, 2008

Replaced the bulb after 3.5 years of good use on my 50V500A. A month later a yellow-orange color started in the lower-left corner and has eventually grown to 80% of the screen.

I called Hitachi service (instead of Sears as some posters suggested) and they said the window has passed Hitachi was replacing the light engines. I'm afraid of spending $2000 to resolve the problem when a new TV is about that now. The salt on the wound is that my Sears extended warranty expired 6 months prior to the problem...unbelievable. The customer service agents tone when I explained this was a rampant problem was rude enough that I'll never buy a Hitachi TV again.

  • Anonymous Sep 17, 2008

Hitachi should lick my balls they are a horrrible company my tvs light engine is out as well, however I hear there is a HUGE civil lawsuit against them right now. Dont by HITACHI DO Not buy a hitachi product if you are smart...

  • Anonymous Sep 19, 2008

    Hello

Here I am again with an update... Yes Hitachi is replacing Light Engines... Well Ive been waiting for 2 months now to get it... Everytime I call they keep telling me that the shipment is coming from Mexico and they dont have any supply in. I totally agree about the Lawsuit. I have paid alot of money for this TV and its only 16 months old... Ive had to replace a lamp already ($350.00) now its gonna cost for the Labor to fix the Light Engine.

If there are any Lawsuits out there happeing, Id sure like to know about them.

  • wowraider Oct 05, 2008

I bought a Hitachi LCD Rear Projection TV Model 50C20 (which is very simalar to the 50V500 Model) from Wal-Mart in August 2006. In September 2007 I had to replace the Lamp which cost me $350.000. In March 2008 the TV had a red dot start in the lower left hand corner and by July 2008 had covered my whole screen. The TV repair man I called out to look at the TV told me it was the Light Engine and would coast me $850.00 to fix. I have talked to Hitachi several times on the phone and will not help with the situation. I bought the extended warranty from Wal-Mart, but lost the reciept in a move. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Anonymous Oct 18, 2008

Bought our Tv in March 2007. Now we have blue blotches all over the place. I am going to give them a call at 800-654-7013. Did not buy the extra warranty. Shouldn't have to, surely the tv should last more than 1 1/2 years. They better come up with a solution. TV is a 50VS69A

  • Anonymous Dec 23, 2008

I have the same problem...just had a tech out to check it and sure enough it's the light engine. My tv is 3 months out of warranty. the first time i called hitachi to complain they said they would only cover the cost of the light engine. All I had to do was use one of thier certified repair companies look at it and they would verify that it was indeed the light engine. I just called custromer relations
(800)654-7013 to start the process. I decided to ask one more time if they would cover the cost of everything and they said YES! They said since my tv was just out of warranty that they would cover labor and cost of engine AND shipping! It would have cost me $400 in labor. I'm probably still never gonna buy another Hitachi but i guess they have the engine problem fixed now.
Be persistent, unless your tv is like 3 or 4 years old. Keep bugging them! Good luck!

  • felitopaz Jan 10, 2009

I'd just had the same problem and I paid nothing. I called Hitachi customer relations and I threatened them to join the class action lawsuit that is currently underway and they paid for everything. I mean they paid for the light engine and LABOR also. I guess they will do the right thing if you put pressure on. My TV is a 50V500A and it's 4 1/2 years old. I am a happy customer right now. I hope this engine lasts a long time.

  • Anonymous Jan 11, 2009

We had the same problem with the blue blob and then streak across this the TV after 18 months of use. We were given the run around by Hitachi and told to replace the lamp. Of course this wasn't the problem, and after further attempts had it verified that the light engine was the root cause. The cost of repair was quoted as $1,200 from their certified repair shop for a TV that cost over $3,000.00. It is now sitting on our floor while we try to get resolution from Hitachi. Lesson: Do not buy Hitachi LCD Televisions!

  • bkmcintire Jan 11, 2009

I have the same problem on an Hitachi 50C20.
Is the a different code for 50C20 I2C Service Menu?

  • Anonymous Jan 19, 2009

I have a 4 year old Hitachi 42V710 rear projection LCD TV. About a year ago I noticed a blue line across the bottom of the screen. Sometimes the blue line seems bigger than others but it might just be my imagination. It really didn't bug me too much but then about 4 months ago a yellowish color showed up in the middle of the screen. I'd say it takes up about 1/3 to 1/2 of the screen from the middle outwards. I have never replaced the lamp. I asked a local technician if he thought a new lamo would fix the problem and he did not think it would. He rattled off a few technical words and I let it go and continued to watch my TV through a yellow haze. After getting online, especially this site, I see that others have similar problems. I see technical terms like "color engine" and "optic engine" and "optical block assembly." Then I see some of the prices for these things and I think the cost of the new part and the cost of the service call would add up to over 1/2 of what I can buy a new TV for. The other thing is, I see some comments on this site where others are on their 2nd or 3rd color engine and their TV isn't even as old as mine. So, if the new part fixes the problem, but only temporarily, and I have to replace it again for the same or more money, I would kick myself in the **** for being so stupid. I know other brands have problems too but I'm ready to try something different I think. Maybe I need to figure the cost for replacing a TV should be budgeted like replacing a car every 3 or 4 years. lol I paid $2500 for this TV in 2004, probably ridiculous but it was the newest and the best I was told. If the prices for TVs were still at that level I would probably just try to fix it. But a $600 to $800 price tag to raplace parts in a TV that can be replaced today for $1200 to $1500 doesn't seem too smart. If anyone has any comments on my problem or a cheaper way to repair, I would truly appreciate it. Thanks!

  • lpetrak May 26, 2009

I need to know more about that class action suit!

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

There seems to be a pattern I am noticing here and on other sites. We changed the lamp after one year. Salesman at Best Buy said it would last at least (3) ! I still think we were given the floor demonstrator but that's another thing. Approximately 2 weeks after we changed the lamp the blue shadow appeared. But I am not sure it is a light engine. Why? well, it started small and grew but now has established one certain place on the screen and hasn't changed in several weeks. From the hundreds of postings I have read on this topic the problem always seems to get worse over time. Ant suggestions? I have the 654-7013 number but am burned out by tech support. We have spent thousands at Best Buy over the last year on electronics and have had problems with everything but one Toshiba laptop.

Its on-line from now on. That way I expect trouble!:)

    Will a cleaning help?

I had whole redish/pinkish screen on my 50v500 starting a few days ago, then I read through each of the threads on this site for the samilar problems on my model. I found TVtechmaniac's solution (pasted below) solved my problem. Thank you TVtechmaniac!

Enter the I2C Service Menu, be sure the power is OFF.
1. On the front control panel, press and hold the INPUT button.
2. Then press the POWER button for two seconds.
3. You may keep the INPUT button depressed until you see the OSD with the Service Menu displayed.
4. If you don't see the service menu, please repeat Process making sure you wait until the Power blinking LED stops.
5. Execute the Memory Initialize operation after the adjustment values have been written on a sheet of paper. Highlight “MEMORY INTI”, arrow to the right and hold the button to the right (approx 5 sec.) until a check mark appears in the box. This activates the Memory Initialization.

6. After the Memory initialize operation has finished (10~15 sec, the channel will revert to CH 3.) the pink image symptom should be fixed.
7. Write back the adjustment values from your notes to their respective adjustment parameters in the adjustment mode. (In other words, set the Data Values back to the the Data values written down before the Memory Initialization procedure). NOTE: Make sure the SELECT Button is pressed on remote after every change to the values. Failure to do so will result in the data values not being changed.
8. Exit I2C menu. Press exit repeatedly until you go back to the normal picture.
9. Turn the set off-on and Confirm the picture remains in a good condition.
BE SURE TO COPY DOWN DATA SETTINGS BEFORE INITIALIZING I2C SETTINGS

I purchased my tv about 4 years ago and had to replace the engine light twice. Now i have a blue spot in the middle of the screen here we go for a third time. Hitachi is the worst brand of tv and i don't reccomend for anyone to buy one. Both time I paid a sears tech $800 for repairs. I didnt know that hitachi would send you a light engine as long as you pay for the install.

Don't pay Sears anything, Call Hitachi. They are replacing these light engines and covering the part (around $1500) if you're out of warranty, you have to pay the install. Our install was $400. I don't know when you got your light engines but up until recently, Hitachi was replacing bad light engines with refurbished ones...they're now sending out new ones. Hitachi is aware of this problem and it's frustrating that they don't recall this part. The certified tech that came out and replaced ours 3 weeks ago, said that Hitachi has recently made big improvements in the new light engines and they are replacing the bad ones with the new ones they're putting in the newer model sets. We bought this set, first generation. Not that it should matter at all, when you pay $3600 for a TV like we did, it should last longer, but other TV's are having problems (ie Mitsibushi fan getting hot and cutting off) so it looks like they are constantly trying to correct these problems.

Please deal only with Hitachi customer relations (not customer service). Their direct number is 800-654-7013. They know about this problem but will pay dumb until you have a certified tech come out and confirm the problem. Once you call Hitachi back and tell them that a light engine defect has been confirmed, they will send out the part (at Hitachi's expense) and the tech will come out and install it.

Again, I'm not an expert only going by what we've recently been through and from what we've heard about the recent changes to the part itself. It sounded like from out tech that Hitachi has just recently started sending out these "new and imporved" light engines. Who really knows...but they will cover the part. DO NOT PAY SEARS for it. They are just trying to make money one something that Hitachi is sending out for free and they know it. Only pay for the install if your not under warranty. Good Luck:)

    Hello helokiddies,

Did you call Hitachi Customer Relations at 800-654-7013? Once we called them and they initially acted like they had not heard of the problem, we had the tech that they recommended come out and Hitachi sent the part within 2 days. Hitachis regular customer service will not be helpful at all. You have to go through Customer relations. Sorry they're giving you the run around. Ours went very smoothly:)

Steeldrago he had mentioned that the glass cost about 3 dollars each? I want to know where you can get replacement parts for the Light Engine as I have had mine apart and it is just a very small fragile piece of colored glass that has a burn spot in it...There has got to be an aftermarket repair for this since Hitachi has screwed so many people. NEVER OWN ANOTHER HITACHI

The heatsink on the lcd drive board is stamped steel, the red, green and blue drive chips are mounted to the heatsink with thermal tape and barely make contact with the heatsink.
I dissasembled my light engine and the blue drive chip is dark brown from heat, you can see that only 1/8 of the chip ever touched the heat sink, also the other two chips barely make contact.
This is a manufacture defect , its just poorly made and bound to fail.
If you want to discuss this, search for "stans atm site" my email's at the bottom of the page.
I would like to get ahold of a few defective units to confirm this.
Have a great day !

We have a red blog on ours and I called Hitachi and I talked to 4 people before i got any help at all. Everytime one person told me they couldn't help i asked to talk to the supervisor, they didn't like it but they'd pass me to another person. By the time I got to the 4th person I was getting pretty upset. At first he told me there was nothing that they could do then i told him I knew a lot of people that had the same problem he said he wasn't aware of it, then I asked him if he was aware of a law suit. He told me yes but he can't discuss someone elses law suit with me. i told him I understand since i work for an attorney. I argued some more with him and he finally told me he was going to put me on hold. When he came back to the phone he told me if i can get a rep to call them to tell them the ligjt engine is bad they will mail them one to replace it and I will have to pay for installation. I called Sears and a lady called me back today and told me they were going to send a rep out. I asked her if he will call first and she asked what the problem was when I told her she said they have had a lot of calls on Hitachi tv's and when I told her what about the red blog she told me she will go ahead and call Hitachi to tell them to mail them one. She went ahead to tell me the cost of installation is $250, that showed told me they have fixed a lot more just like mine.
If anyone is having problems with Hitachi keep on to them and don't stop until they tell you they will send the part. Let them know you are seriously upset and know about the law suit. Hope this helps.

My tv is now better than ever. We got the new light engine installed Thursday and was charged $250 for labor the guy that installed it said he had replaced around 20 and they new ones had two fans unlike the older ones with on. He said it was a common problem. Hitachi sent the replacement part directly to the repairman.

When you call Hitachi ask to talk to Donald French, atleast that is a name of someone that works there. He is the person that finally told me they would send the new engine light to me free of charge.

Don't let anyone tell you they can't help you just keep on to them until they send you one, because we all know they have sent them to some owners.

My problems with this Hitachi 50V500 model just seem to get worse. I also have the red spot but it was tolerable but now the TV keeps turning off and back on again every few seconds. I am really torn about whether to just junk this thing and buy a new (non Hitachi) TV or pay the price of repair. Considering it is 5 years old, needs the light engine replaced like everyone else and it probably is due for a new bulb, I am on the fence about having it all serviced at once and wondering what everyone else thinks. Since I paid about $3600 for it the first day it went on display in the store, I am pretty angry and will join the class action lawsuit either way. Any opinion is welcome.

Just called Hitachi, and told them we had problems with blue and yellow splotches all over the TV. They said if it is anything other than the lamp, they would pay for the part. We have to pay for the service guy to come and look at the TV, which is $50.00 and it would cost $150.00 to install the light engine, which they are pretty sure that is the problem.. Hitachi said they would pay for any part other than the lamp. If it is the lamp, the tv would start to go darker and darker which it isn't. The service guy will call the serial # into Hitachi and they will send out the part.

The light from the lamp is driven through 3 or 4 magnifying glasses, over time this magnified light will eat away at the coating on one or more of the glass assemblies right outside of the LCD assembly inside of the light engine, I'm still looking for instruction on aligning the assembly once it has been removed but the actual glass cost about $3 each. The labor for the alignment is more costly. Unfortuniatly most tech wont take the time to open the light engine. And the alignment information is held tight by qualified repair facilities. The tech who comes to your house will only be able to replace the entire assembly

My husbands uncle has one of these TVs and I think it's about 5 years old now. He rarely even uses it; only during college football season, maybe once a week. This is the 3rd problem he's had to have a tech come out and work on the thing and now finds out he's going to have to pay over $1200. to fix the light engine.
He called Hitachi and got the same BS everyone else is getting. They won't send him the part and he's already had a tech tell him that was the problem.
Funny how they will replace one here and there.
I'm gathering info for him to get into the lawsuit.

I think there is ground for a class action lawsuit against Hitachi. Do we have a Lawyer, who wants to pursue it?

Just got off the phone with Hitachi customer 'no' service. No luck with optical light engine, their one coment was that the light engine is made by Sony.. Talk about passing the buck.
Last Hitachi product I purchase.

  • Anonymous Aug 18, 2008

In addation to Hitachi customer 'no' service blaming the bad part on sony they now tell me because I have never had a problem with the tv in the past they can not do anything about the light engine. Does this make sense? Also just asked to speak to a supervisor. Was on hold for 5 minutes and then the person said the supervisor was on break

THIS IS SO COMMON THERE ARE NOW SEVERAL CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS OVER IT---I suggest you get involved---the replacement engines are all rebuilt and supposed to "not have the same trouble".

Red circle in middle of screen color is way off

You have a problem with the light engine. Hitachi has extended the warranty on some of these. This is a major expense with major labor charges. Better get in contact with a local Hitachi authorized repair facility.

Hitachi light engine

you can check with legal advice because recurring problems with the same part is a design fault and has to covered by the manufacturer free of parts and labor until you dispose of the unit

Blue ghost image on the top left hand corner of my Hitachi 50V500A.

You have a defective light engine and you do not have to be under warranty for Hitachi to replace this part. We just went through this and here's what you need to do. Call Hitachi's customer relations department at 800-654-7013 and tell them that you have a defective light engine. They will act like they've never heard of this problem but they have. They will give you the names of some certified dealers in your area to call. Once a tech comes out and confirms that it's the light engine, call Hitachi back and they will send a brand new light engine to the dealer and Hitachi will cover the cost of the part (cost $1500).

Here is the deal, if you're under warranty, Hitachi will cover the part and the install. If you're not under warranty, all you pay is the install. Our install cost $400. Others on this site have paid $200. Do not let anyone tell you that you have to pay for the light engine part...you do not. Hitachi has not recalled this part but they are replacing it for free. Also, deal only with Hitachi customer realations number that I listed. Good Luck!

Pink splotches on Hitachi 50V500A

We had the same problem and just got our light engine replaced last week. Yes, Hitachi will ship the part and they will pay for the part but they will ask you to pay for the install (unless like Dev23 said, it's still under warranty). Hitachi shipped the part to the certified Hitachi dealer that they recommended. Cost to us was around $400. Worth it to us being that the TV cost $3600 when we bought it 3+ years ago and up until we had the light engine problem, the TV has been great. Since the light engine was replaced, TV looks brand new. You will read some post about this problem were people have had up to 3 light engines replaced. Back when Hitachi was made aware of this problem (about a year ago) they were sending out refurbished light engines and not new ones...obvious cost savings and cheap way out for Hitachi. The tech that came out and installed ours said that now Hitachi only sends out brand new light engines.

You should really only deal with Hitachis Customer Relations Department and not regular customer service. When you first call, they will act like they have no idea what you're talking about. After you have someone come out to look and tell you that YES, it's a light engine defect, they will ship the part to the dealer and then the tech will come out and rinstall it. The customer relations department # is 800-654-70103.

If you're willing to pay the install, they will cover the part. The part we were told cost $1500. Regardless of a warranty or not, this is a DEFECTIVE PART and I think Hitachi should pay for the entire tab none the less, we just wanted the TV fixed without a hassle! Good Luck:)
