SOURCE: "Turn the power off and on again" error message

I just had the same problem and I didn't know what to do and I found this post it was somewhat helpful. After I read this I disassembled the camera and I pulled out the lens cover up a bit its held by this white plastic inside be careful not to pull to hard because it looks like it could break easily. After I got the lens cover a little bit above the lens itself I powered it up and the lens MOVED! I tested it again and it worked. So I placed the lens cover back over the lens. And it all back together. It was a really quick fix it took me less than 10 minutes. I hope this is helpful to anyone that gets "Turn off the power off and on again" error.

SOURCE: error message, cant take pictures

Camera needs to be serviced. This is a common problem with sony cameras. If you have any knowledge of electronic, you could take apart and clean and lube lens. If not sony will fix for a fee, go to the sony web site, they offer a repair service. This happened to mine, it cost $95 plus shipping costs to repair. Now it works great, for how long who knows.

Canon SD770 IS's lens won't close. I get error message: Lens error, restart camera. Restarting doesn't work. Any advice? Strange that it won't even take photos or playback while the lens is stuck!

Welcome to FixYa

Camera detected this error while moving the lens and cut the power automatically. This error message may appear if you press on the lens while its moving. Make sure that when your going to turn on the camera, your hand or fingers will not block the lens to retrack. Turning on the camera in a dusty or sandy environnment is also one reason for this message to be displayed.
Try to remove the battery and re-insert it, then turn on the camera again. If the message still persist, take the camera to a service center because there may be a problem with the lens.

Please let me know if you have any questions and if this solution was helpful.

When camera is turned on the lens opens and closes several times and then an error message appears: "Turn the power off and on again." When this is done, the camera does the same thing - lens opens and...

Hello

Unfortunately a "lens error" message is not something that you will be able to fix. This error indicates a system failure and requires the camera to be sent in for servicing and repair.

You may find it more cost effective to purchase a new camera as opposed to the repair price on your current camera.

Turn the power off and on again message

Hi,

Error: TURN THE POWER OFF AND ON AGAIN is displayed on the LCD screen when the Lens Mechanism is stuck or when affected by any malfunction. If turning the power on and off again does not resolve the error message, try doing a power reset and Initialize option.

Performing a manual power reset

Turn off the camera.

Remove the battery pack.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

Reinsert the battery pack.

Turn on the camera.

To reset the Camera back to factory default, select the INITIALIZE Option from the Main Settigs 1 Menu of the Camera to OK.This will set the user defined settings back to factory default. The images and videos will not get deleted.

If the issue persists, service may be required.

Panasonic DMC-FX35 error message

Sounds as if it has either received a knock, or foreign matter (grit etc) has got into the lens mechanism.

After inserting lens it keeps saying lens not attached

I would help to know the error message, but here is what I can tell you.

Having a "Lens error " message display on the camera's LCD display indicates a problem with the camera lens mechanism. This situation generally requires that the camera be sent to a Nikon Service Department for repair. Before doing this however, be sure to check these situations below:
  1. One possible reason for this error is if the camera is switched on and the lens unit is prevented from extending. The camera will struggle for a second to extend the lens, then report the problem. Inspect the lens for any obvious obstruction, then turn the camera off, then on again. Usually, simply switching the camera Off then On again is enough to correct this problem.
  2. Remove and recharge and/or replace the battery. If the error does not clear up right away, leave the battery out of the camera overnight, and try again the next day.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:
