Nokia E90 - no sound or mail symbol on incoming text message
All of a sudden, I have no ring or envelope sign when a text message arrives. For calls, the ring and vibrate does work. Any ideas? I have already moved around to different profiles and no change.
Re: Nokia E90 - no sound or mail symbol on incoming text...
Erase all incoming and outgoing text messages from the phone. Then take out the battery while the phone is on. This problem tends to happen when there are more than 2000 messages in the phone.

Envelope usually indicated a text message. Usually, if you have unread text messages your little envelope will have a number one or number two, etc in red on it.
You will need to go to your text message icon to open your text message screen.. It might be called *Inbox* but it's not email only text or SMS messages.
Settings In this menu, you can adjust various phone settings. To reset some menu settings to their default values, select Restore factory set. Tone settings Select Menu > Settings > Tone settings and from the available options: Ringing tone-To set the tone for incoming calls Ringing volume-To set the volume level for the ringing and message alert tones. If you set Ringing volume to be level 2 or above, your phone rings with the ringing volume ascending from level 1 to the level you have set when there is an incoming call. Vibrating alert-To set the phone to vibrate when you receive a call or a text message Message alert tone-To set the tone to sound when you receive a text message Warning tones-To set the phone to sound tones, for example, when the battery is running out of power
Does the phone ring when you receive an incoming call? If so, press Menu go to Control Panel (or might be the profile is shown in the menu) after control panel, Profile then Options and then Personalize, then, scroll down and again select Message Alert Tone, set the Tone for the message. Also make sure that the volume is turned up. Save the settings and try again. If this doesn't help and you don't hear any ring tone during an incoming call, let me know after checking the sound settings.
Hi. First thing, you can check your sound settings, by tapping Star Menu, then Settings, then Sounds & Notifications, and through that page, you can check if your incoming call alert is on (just sound, or vibrate and sound), you can try to change the ringtone to see if your current ringtone is damaged or not. (Since other sounds are alright, there shouldn't be any problem in your hardware or in the sound volume levels) Hope this helps.
The @ symbol simply means that a new message has been received in the "remote mailbox". If you are using Mail for Exhange this sometimes comes on when it is syncing because some of the default mailbox functionality is being "passed through" by the application. Or... you could have a remote mailbox set up and have a new message in it :)
look in menu - messaging - settings - email to see what mailboxes you have configured. Also, keep in mind that some apps for nokia may be triggering the @ symbol if they are utilizing the native messaging features of the S60 OS.
Why am I receiving a memory full notification?
Memory full warning notifications are shown once the SMS memory reaches 80% full, which is 80 out of 100 SMS.
The notifications show up every time on receiving a new message. On reaching 100%, "Memory full notification" message is shown and no new messages will be received until we make space for incoming messages by deleting some from the inbox.
Memory full warning notices are shown only if "Auto Erase Inbox" is set to Off in Messaging settings (Menu -> Settings -> Messaging). If set to On, then these notices are not shown. By default this is set to Off.
