Aqualux 1200i washs fine but wont spin for longer than 5 seconds

The wash cycle completes, but leaves the clothes sodden. I consulted the troubleshooting guide and it looks as if the "electronic unbalance detection device has cut in because the laundry is not evenly distributed in the drum".

I have tried running a spin cycle with nothing in the drum and it still doesn't get up to speed (it attempts to, but just seems to trip out). The machine is draining with no problems.

Does it look as if I need new brushes/motor? A friend has had a look at the brushes, he does think they could do with replacing.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks,

    Adrian

P.S. The machine is approximately 4 years old.

Did you happen to solve the problem? I am having the same exact issue with mine...washes fine, but won't do the spin cycle. it spins counter clockwise really slow at first, presumably to balance the clothes, and then starts to spin up clockwise (to do the spin cycle) but then whinnies and then stops....!

For anyone who finds this post w/the same issue, turns out the controllerboard/motherboard had gone bad and had to be replaced.

I have Aqualux 1200 Electrolux

If the Spin button on your Aqualux 1200 Electrolux washing machine is not staying inside when pressed and comes out automatically after a few seconds, there could be a few possible causes:

Button malfunction: The button itself may be malfunctioning and not working properly. It could be a problem with the button's connection or the switch that it activates.

Control board issue: The control board is responsible for managing the functions of the washing machine. If it is malfunctioning, it may not be able to control the Spin button properly.

Motor or transmission issue: The motor and transmission are responsible for spinning the drum. If they are not working properly, the Spin button may not stay in.

Latch or door lock issue: If the latch or door lock is not working properly, it may not be able to keep the Spin button in position during the spin cycle.

My 1200I washes ok but does not get to spin speed, I suspect its the motor brushes, is this correct?

It seems unlikely as if the motor brushes were worn I would expect problems making the motor turn at all. It would seem that a number of owners have had the same problem and it is due to the load sensor thinking that the load is not even. If it thinks the machine will be subject to excessive vibration it stops the spin progressively. I don't know how the machine checks for uneven load, there must be a vibration sensor, maybe it gets worn and needs replacing, but I suggest you redistribute the load and spin again. Make sure the machine is level and not rocking. Also have a look here http://electrolux.manualsonline.com/washerdryer/ew_1200_i/possible-causes-21.php Please rate my reply thank you.

Washer/dryernot drying-Electrolux - Aqualux 1200 EW

check the drain filter is clear / pumping efficiency good. possible blockage in side chamber on righthand side. fan motor assy on top of chamber may be faulty. a condensing water valve could be faulty its the dual cold valve that the cold hose connects to without it you just get a steam and hot clothes.

Electrolux aqualux 1200 ew

I had a similar problem with a different make recently. After cleaning the filter which didn't seem to have anything in it and rinsing the filters on the in and out pipes I took all the clothes out and ran it empty on two different full programmes and somehow the gremlins disappeared and it works fine now.

DRUM NOT SPINNING

Disconnect your washer's plug for 5 minutes or more from the wall socket. Plug in. Press "end of cycle" button for over 5 seconds, the child lock comes off.
Press it again and the child lock comes on................ If this does not work, try the pre-wash button likewise.
