SOURCE: When trying to divide two
Here
is screen capture of a similar calculation, performed on TI Nspire with TI 84
plus keyboard. To type in the imaginary unit use key sequence
[2nd][dot], do not use [ALPHA][X^2] for the letter i.
SOURCE: why does my t- 84 give a data type error when I ask it to write 9/(2+3i) as a fraction
For a moment I was puzzled by you question. After trying several configuration changes I finally figured out what the problem is.
You get the DATA type ERROR if you use the MathPrint templates (the two stacked squares).
In Math or Classic IO you can display complex fractions as fractions, just do not enter them through the template you access through the ALPHA F1 key combination. You can do that even for the older OS's (1.12 ). and with the number type set to REAL. Use the usual linear way. You do not need to set the calculator to CLASSIC..
SOURCE: error when converting complex numbers to fraction
Not quite true for OS 2.56 MP for the TINspire with Ti84 keyboard. To convert a complex decimal value, that you just calculated, into a fraction use the command Math [1:>Frac] and it will convert the value to complex fractions
