My digital Sony DSC-P10 fell down while taking pictures and lens has got stuck in half way.. Lens doesn't go in when I switch off and when i switch on then it can open well and gives error on the screen
The gearing on the lens is probably damages from the drop. You have two choices: 1. Send it in for a repair (which will be expensive) and claim from your insurance. If it is uneconomical to repair, your insurer will probably pay for a replacement camera. 2. If you're not insured, it may be cheaper to just buy a new camera rather than pay for a repair to a 4(?) year old camera.

Your lens is stuck due to either being banged or bumped or there is dirt/grit inside the lens gears. The lens needs to be replaced, but buying a brand new lens is out of the question. Sony will charge $125 just for the lens assembly, it's crazy.
A refurb lens can be installed for about $75 including return shipping. You should check the replacement cost of a used camera and see which is cheaper in the long run.
Hope this helps!

Sorry but usually when the camera lens is forced shut, the gear mechanism will get out of sync. Usually even if it will open, you will receive a Lens Error

Use bit more force to push or pull the lens as lens has been damaged. If applying bit more force lens goes to working, u saved $$$ otherwise, new lens option is always available at Sony repair shops.
Sony Cybershot DSC-P200 worked great then the lens stuck in the open position.
Read on this site some one suggested gently manipulating the lens and tapping it then turning it on. It worked!!
camera ccd is / has failed - also possible , lens
iris is stuck closed ( on monitor , can see very
