Read the manual to find out it means. The results that are rational numbers can be displayed as decimal numbers, mixed numbers (a b/c) or improper fractions (d/c). Irrational numbers such as Pi, SQRT(2), SQRT(3), etc approximated by their decimal representation.
Look at the keyboard.Tthere must be a key that allows you to convert from fractions to decimals (always) and from decimals to fractions (sometimes). The key may be marked F--D, S--D, Change. You may also have to press the [a b/c] key to change representations.

Not directly. The calculator does not have the trig functions built in. You could do it the same way people did it before pocket calculators.

Natural logarithm with TI-30XA calculator

I noticed that this calculator doesn't have a natural logarithm function as well. You can can always use the fact that
ln x = (log x) /log e or since log e is approximately .43429482
ln x = (log x)/.43429482. The greatest solution and it might be worth the 15 bucks or so to get a calculator with e^x and the natural logarithm function.

TI-15 square root Function

Hello,
You should enter it as follows [SQRT]36 ) [ENTER/=].
If you define some function f of a variable x you write that f(x), where the parentheses enclose the so-called argument (objet on wich the function acts). It seems that on this calculator the opening parenthesis is implicit: the calculator supplies it when you press [SQRT] but does not display it (a design flaw?). However the closing parenthesis must be entered by you to signifie to the function [SQRT] that you have finished entering the argument. Weird but one can live with it.
Hope it helps.

The Greatest Integer Function (int)

The greatest integer function (also called a step function) is actually a piecewise defined function with a special definition. The function has the notation f(x)=||x|| or f(x)=[[x]] when it is written, but the TI-83 and the TI-84 designate this function by using f(x)=int(x) and is found in the MATH NUM menu. This function is the greatest integer less than or equal to x. So, f(1)=1 and f(1.4)=1. Since this is a piece-wise function you should use DOT mode.
