This seems to be a common question - its actually caused either by no signal at your aerial (which is the most common as Freeview are constantly changing frequencies) or at the worst case scenario by a faulty tuner on the i/o board - you will probably find connecting a pvr to the hdmi slots works using the tv aerial so that could mean its the tv - if the aerial doesnt work with a pvr or other box then its most likely the aerial not pulling enough signal.

The check is to plug the aerial rf into a youview or tivo box and then see if you get a signal through hdmi to the tv - this can prove its the tuner circuit on the tv i/o board - sometimes it can be cured by reloading the firmware even if its the same revision as the firmware may have been damaged but 90% of the time its a hardware issue and needs an electornics repair or buy and swap a i/o board from ebay!

The best way to check is to have the aerial checked either using a meter you can buy from Amazon or get an installer to check the aerial. In most likelihood if its in the UK its the aerial not pulling in enough signal because of recent changes to freeview channels - you can check if your area is affected on their website and in some instances they can replace your aerial for free if their changes have caused the problem!

Do a first time installation, move the TV or bite the bullet and either buy an external aerial or extend the main house aerial cable to reach the TV. assuming your TV has no signal where it is now

Lg tv losing stored channels when turned off

I purchased an LG43UN7100 just before Christmas 2020. It has used the same aerial connections (ports/cabling) previously used by both Samsung and Philips televisions, which worked perfectly. After twelve days of use, I've now retuned it 4 times and have even followed advice to disable the Quickstart Plus and reset back to initial settings. From an internet search I suspect that this is a common 'feature' of LG televisions :(

TV will not change or show channels

You don't say whether you have had it working at that location before. When you move a TV between houses, it is necessary to retune your channels. Would recommend returning to first time installation.
If you haven't moved it recently there are other reasons why this might happen. 1) There is damage to your aerial caused by weather, 2) A power surge or loss of power to the memory battery on your video board has wiped the frequency information from the memory [the memory battery is like a watch battery that keeps a small amount of power going through the system to it can keep your settings when unplugged], 3) The internal tuner board for your TV has packed in.
If '1' is the case, obviously you need your aerial fixed; if '2' is the case you need to retune again [you'll know if the battery is dead if you have to retune every time you turn on the TV]; if '3' is the case you either need a replacement AV board or someone to solder a replacement tuner board to it.

Hello .i have a lg tv which i purchased in 2008 and only watched videos,i now want to watch tv i have tried auto tune and it only finds 3 vhf channels and none digital.it has preview built in but i can not...

if it has freeview built in its usually programmes itself try turning it on and go into the menu and there should be an auto tune function hit that and it should tune up but remember it needs to be connected to an aerial if it still says no signal try moving the aerial, getting a booster for the aerial they usually plug into the mains then into the back of your tv and you plug your aerial into that to boost the frequencey if that doesn't work then you might need to think about getting a new aerial but you can get 1 for under £30

I have just moved house to Reading and previously was able to view freeview tv using my old indoor aerial in my 2nd floor flat in london. This indoor aerial didn't pick up any signals, not even analogue,...

You will need to have an outdoor aerial installed, the signal area you're now living in will not be a strong enough reception for an indoor aerial no matter how good or expensive. You could try the indoor aerial in different positions around the room especially by a window to try & pick up some other channels but the long term this will cause some of the programmes to break up or freeze. An aerial on the roof or in the attic will be your best solution to pick up all the digital channels on freeview.

Find channels

You say you`ve plugged the outside aerial lead directly into the DVD recorder aerial input socket, you connected an aerial link lead from the aerial output socket on the DVD recorder and you`ve got a Scart lead from the TV output socket on the rear of the DVD recorder into the AV1 socket on the TV. I`m saying all this because in the past, I`ve had customers say this to me only to find when I call round that they`ve plugged the aerial into phono sockets instead of the earial input socket. The aerial lead will fit physically but not electrically. Have you got a good picture on your TV with the DVD recorder switched to standby?? If yes, Does it play a DVD perfectly through the TV?? If yes, then everything is connected up correctly, When you press the virgin menu button to your DVD, it should show setup/install?? When you do get to the free-view or channel setup/install menu, and you tell it to search for new channels, does it scan?? Does a bar or do the numbers rise and the % number rise as it finds new channels?? If they do and everything is connected and working as I described earlier but still no channels are found, Try unplugging from the mains and reboot your DVD recorder, then repeat the whole menu install procedure sequence again. Other than that, there`s nothing else you can do, Basically, you`ve got a faulty machine where it requires an engineers eye I`m afraid. Ian

I`ve set up my philips digital terrestrial receiver DTR220 and i`ve scanned for all channels, but i can`t pick up any because my aerial is not picking up any signal. I`ve tried different, stronger aerials...

I actually moved my tele to the other side of the room to see if it would work in a different spot and it took me ages to get some signal by moving my aerial around. The signal still wasn`t strong and i didn`t have alot of the channels and then i turned it on a few weeks after and it was working perfectly. Don`t ask me why! :s

In London, Uk. I have poor reception of channel 5. have got recently a one for all powered aerial. how do I set it up? Model sv-9140-00-002

Your reception would be much improved by using a free to air digital set top box - only about £20. If you are in east London especially near docklands channel 5 reception with a conventional aerial gives a lot of problems. sv-9140-00-002 is an interior aerial booster - I doubt whether this will improve things much. Best solution is a good outside aerial - if you live in flats is there no communal aerial available?

Lg 22ls4r hdtv screen flickers

Disconnect the TV from your sky box and watch TV with just aerial. If this cure the problem, then it is the sky box that may cause the problem. If not then your TV has a problem. Check the colour setting and make sure it is not in saturated mode. Otherwise take it back to the shop.
