I finally decided to upgrade my input to HDMI once my cable company got a new box that had HDMI out. When I hooked up the TV the HDMI input gave me only a black screen then after plugging it in and out a few times gave me a green screen. I know the box and cable work since I hooked up another TV and it worked fine. I called JVC and went through the whole HDMI reset without any luck. They said I need to get this serviced, but I really don't want to pay for this for a TV 3 yrs old, especially since it obviously never worked from the beginning (I just never used the HDMI input until today). How much would this cost me (or is there something I could replace or check myself for less money?)

Same deal... new Blu-Ray player with HDMI cable just giving me a greeen screen. Samsung player, 46" (or so) JVC HD rear projection tv. Returned the cable, same result. Same thing here. I have done the reset several times and I still have NG9 next to HDMI, RGB, and TUN. It says NG3 next to IP. Im having a similar problem. I have Direct TV and Im running the HD box thru an Onkyo Surround Sound System and then to the TV. I was getting picture at one time but obviously it is no loner working. I have tried to run the DTV box directly to the TV and it still didnt work. The Box is under a year old so Its unlikely that its the box. I have tried to run the HDMI from my Playstation 3 thru the TV but Sony said that its possible this TV is unable to read the HDMI from the Playstation 3 anyways. Any suggestions? JVC HDMI Port Fix Turn the TV on, and enter the Service Menu. Select 2 for Self Check. Then turn the TV off, and after the fan turns off, unplug the power cord. Reconnect the power cord, turn the TV on, and the HDMI port is reenabled. Here’s how to get to Service Menu: Before entering the SERVICE MENU, confirm that the setting of TV/CATV SW of the REMOTE CONTROL UNIT is at the "TV" side and the setting of VCR/DVD SW of the REMOTE CONTROL UNIT is at the "VCR" side. If the switches have not been properly set, you cannot enter the SERVICE MENU. 1) Press [SLEEP TIMER] key and while the indication of SLEEP TIMER 0 MIN is being displayed, press [DISPLAY] key and [VIDEO STATUS] key (Fig.2) simultaneously. 2) The SERVICE MENU screen of Fig.1 is displayed. 3) Verify what to set in the SERVICE MENU, and set whatever is necessary (Fig.1). Refer to the SERVICE ADJUSTMENT for setting. 4) Press the [BACK] key to return the SERVICE MENU. This shouldwork.

1. Unplug HDMI cable from tv. 2. Unplug the tv. 3. Remove the rear (low) back cover. 4. Find the 6 pins on the board of the HDMI module and shortcut the pins no.1 and no.2 using a jumper(i use an old hard drive jumper).That's the higher to pins if you can't see the number. 5. Put back the rear cover. 6. Plug the tv. 7. Turn on the tv. 8. Unplug the tv(without tunrning it off). 9. Remove the back cover. 10. Remove the jumper on the pins 1 and 2. 11. Put back the rear cover. 12. Plug the tv and you're done.
On JVC HD-ILA TVs the HDCP is triggered off by light.There is a light sensor behind the rear panel. If the rear panel is removed and the TV is powered on the sensor will lock out the HDCP of the HDMI signal. You all tried to do the reset procedure but you didn't say if the back panel was on or off. If you do the reset procedure with the back off it will just lock out again. Very strong sun light hitting the back of the TV will cause some light to get in thru the vents and trigger a lockout. An NG next to the IP is normal. All of the items listed on the two vertical columns need to say OK. If you reset the HDMI and you are still getting a green screen there is a possibility that the light sensor has failed thinking it is seeing light and causing the HDCP to stay locked out.
IF you get a black screen when you connect a known good HDMI signal this means that there in a compatability problem. A black screen means there is HDMI protocol communications going on but the signal can't be decoded.
It is the same thing if you pick up the phone and dial a number in Moscow, the phone there will ring and a Russian will answer it, So communications have been established but if you can't speak Russian and they can't speak English you don't have a picture.
Many people confuse a green screen and a black screen as being the same thing, They are not.
It would also be good if you give the exact model number since there are several generations of HD-ILA TVs now and the service menus differ a little.

Two remotes going out at the same time is unusual (unless the wife likes to throw them at you.) The following is a common problem with cable tv started this year JAN 2018. May help:
First, Let your cable box (old one I'm guessing) sit with the power on and cable(s) connected both to cable line and TV. Give it at least an hour to reset and communicate with the new cable company. If nothing (on the box) changes display then eventually sets up the clock to the correct time. Then call the cable service/help line to have them 'ping' your box (reset) This should get things going.
* Once the cable is looking normal. Check your TV; are you still using the analog (chan 3) input? Newer cable is going all digital to get High Def (HD) to everyone. This means no analog TV will work (unless you get a converter for a fee.). You may still hook up your tv by using the RCA Yellow-Red-White inputs if your TV has them. You can also use the newer IR or S-cable jacks if both the TV and cable box has them. Last and best option is using the HDMI jack which is found on most TV's bought after 2010. If you don't have these inputs then your TV is too old. Opt for a "smart TV" if you can afford it as it's sometimes the same price. Don't be fooled on getting a regular TV on sale as the stores are dumping all the old sets. (Remember when VHS were dumped for the newer VCD, then the DVD came along.)
* If you see stripes like an out of sync old style TV, then your still on channel 3 analog. Go get an HDMI cable from the store;Walmart ($6), Best Buy($30), Even Home Depot has them. Hook up to TV and set up your TV to HDMI input. (most TV sets can select the input with out using the remote. Try holding down the on/off button once the TV lights up the screen. Most will go into a Menu option and pressing the volume buttons will select the item you want. Those without extra buttons will work with just pressing the on/off button several times till on the selection you want.
* Final; now that the TV and cable is set. Now you can test the remote (I'm guessing the cable remote?) See if the battery in the remote is fresh and installed correctly. Give the battery a spin while in case to make sure the connections are good. Check for green crud. Remove with paper towel if needed. Rub gunk off with rubber pencil erasure. Install batteries. Try pressing a button to check if the remote lights up. Point at cable box to change channel or get a menu selection. If it still does not work then call the cable service line for a replacement.

Use your remote. Press menu and look up initial set up or reset to factory settings.
* Note that as of Jan 2018 most cable companies do not provide analog outputs to TV sets. If your still using Channel 3 for an input to your TV then it won't work or will stop working some time this year.
* Hook up your TV using the old RCA video/audio jacks; Yellow plug is video, Red is audio right, White is audio left.
* You can also use an HDMI cable (best) for High Def picture which is all the rage for HD TV.
* You may also connect using the DVD style cable hook up which uses 4-5 separate cables (3 for colors and 2 for audio)
* Once you have some sort of video or message on the TV screen then you can proceed to setting up the cable box. Have the cable box hooked up and on for at least 15 mins. Look at the cable box display till the correct time is displayed. Power up the cable box till you see the power on indicator. Now use your TV remote to select the correct input you hooked your cables t. (probably HDMI) The display should show you your cable service. Now use the cable remote to select your channel.
* If you don't have a cable box but still have digital service (usually called basic cable - no premium) then use the analog/digital input on the TV remote and select initial set up. There should be an automatic channel search and set up to scan all the channels available on the line your connected to. This will take up to 15mins. If you know the specific channel you can cancel the scan and pick each channel for you own list. Letting the scan run may help you find other channels you are unaware of.
* Final; if your still having problems then call you TV MFR support line and they will talk you through to check your set.
* You can also check the cable company support line if the TV check out okay. The cable company may or may not be able to supply you service for really old Tube style TV sets as most if not all TV's are digital now.

No you don't need a new tv. Hook up your HD cable box using HDMI cable. Hdmi out on your cable box then hdmi in on your tv. You need your tv remote to change source input to hdmi.
If your cable box has an HDMI OUT connector you simply connect the HDMI cable to the TV and the coaxial cable from the cable company to the coaxial input on the cable box. Then select the HDMI input on the TV that matches the number of the HDMI input port you chose on the back of the TV.
Power up all components. Select the HDMI 1 input on the Denon amp, and the HDMI 1 input on the TV. Additionally, run the old analog cables between the cable box and the TV. If no picture, select the input on the TV that is associated with the analog input from the cable box. You should have a picture at this point - but it will be a standard definition type. Check the settings on the cable box to change the output from "A / V" to Digital on the HDMI jack - if present. You may have better luck unplugging power / replugging in the cable box first - or calling the cable company if you can't find settings for this. Once you have the output of the cable box to HDMI, select HDMI on the TV. If you still don't have it working - try bypassing the Denon and go directly into the TV from the cable box. Try it with BOTH HDMI cables. Also - try different inputs and out puts (HDMI 2, HDMI 3, etc.). Discard any HDMI cable that fails to show video and play audio.
1. Please try a new HDMI cable.
2. Try to upgrade the FIRMWARE of the TV. You may download it from SONY official website if there is a upgrade for your model.
3. After upgrade the firmware, if the problem is not solved, change the main board.
I know this may be a dumb question but I have to ask because even though the cable company has HD boxes a lot of them still dont have HDMI outputs instead they use the 5 Component cable (red,blue,green,for video and white, red for audio). Not only that most of the cable guys are not the brightest in the world I work in an electronics store for 13 years and cant tell you how many times I went to someone house and it was hooked up wrong. Are you stuck on HDMI-1 or can u chnge the channel by using the tv/video button it may say input as well. Check how its hooked up easy to tell 1 cable HDMI, 5 cables -Component. If it is HDMI check the other hdmi input as most LCD tvs have at least 2. same for component it will say component on screen
My HT-S6100 had a similar problem with my DVD player and some times with my Cable/DVR box. The signal wasn't getting received at the TV. So, first I changed the input jacks my DVD and Cable box are plugged into on the receiver (e.g. from HDMI 1 & HDMI 3 to HDMI 2 & HDMI 4). Second, I reprogrammed the Input Assignments to match (e.g. HDMI in 2&4). Third, I deleted any Input Assignments that weren't applicable. For instance, I'm only using HDMI connections, but there were Digital and Component Input Assignments programmed in. When I say I deleted them, I actually set them to "----" (just scroll through the options and you'll find this.) Finally, I turn on my video/audio sources (PS3 in your case) and let them load/warm up before I turn on my Onkyo receiver. It seems to be working. Good luck.
I had the same problem and found that the ground wire outside where the cable companys box is was not even hooked up. It was just hanging there, once I hooked it up it went away. The cable company gave me the run around telling me it wasn't their fault. I now have Direct Tv.

i tried the jumper fix and sure enough it worked great, but as soon as i changed to a different video input it stopped working again.
any ideas as to what is happening? am i missing somehting?
