Water not working but ice is

Without a model# it is impossible to help you.. Sometimes it is simple and other times it is not. Samsung has a ton of issues related to icemakers and could be as simple as turning it on "usually done through the front controls on samsungs" or you could have one or more bad water valves in it. (just because the water works doesn't mean the ice will.. It is two different valves,or sides of the valve).

A way to check for a bad valve is to defrost the fridge. 24 hours,unplugged,doors open. This will clear any ice build up within a line. Plug back in and see if it starts making ice. If the problem comes back then the valve is usually seeping and will stop making ice again. This method is free and completely tool-less but takes time and you have to move your food.

order a new icemaker, about 100.00 from parts company, heat element not working to help release ice. Its an easy fix and will save you a service call for 150 additional bucks. Its a matter of taking out old one. First turn off water valve to fridge. Take out old icemaker and remove electrical supply, just a squeeze and the clip should come out. Place new electrical connection, connect water supply line, turn on water line to fridge fridge, the compartment should fill and then ice in about an hour or 90 min.

You have to hook the icemaker up to the electrical circuit powering your refrigerator. Make sure wiring is correct. Some time it won't work if there is a loose connection.

The plastic water resivoir in the fridge compartment is frozen. Need to locate the resivoir which is at the bottom of the fridge and by using a hairdrier, warm the plastic resivoir for about 6 minuites. Suggest you turn the fridge off while doing this. retry and dispence water.

Could possibly be a temperature sensor, but most likely the heating coil that heats the ice receptacles is burned out. The ice maker needs this heater to momentarily heat the walls of the ice receptacles so that the ice will easily come out of them.

Sorry, but this usually means a new ice maker. They're pretty easy to install and really don't cost that much (less than $150).

water in fridge on shelve from freezer.( I am assuming) Have defrosted and cleaned fridge and freezer removed all visable ice and water. Took off vent in fridge no ice. what else can I check out before calling repair man?

Water tank in bottom of fridge can freeze up if thermostat gives up. First water will stop coming out, then ice starts building up, then fan starts making noise as it brushes against ice, then fan fails, then fridge warms up  ---- all a well know scenario with this fridge. I wonder if this is the problem you have ?
