Hi Ive had my recorder for a couple of years now, but yesterday when I switched it on the picture was really really bad - it was all liney and jumpy. From the minute I switched the machine on, the blue screen that says toshiba was even liney and jumpy. My TV is working fine. Any ideas about what could be wrong or how to fix? Thanks!!

SOURCE: No picture No Sound?? Tube is fine....

Hello MagillaG, You are getting off cheap considering that this hum may be from the IHVT, hopefully the hum is not for that component. Since you have no picture and no sound that denotes a power supply probme which can be anything from a blown fuse to a bad IHVT or the horizontal output transistor. $180.00 is about right.

I am working on the exact same problem with the same symptoms. Make sure the tv is unplgged for at least 5 minutes before poking around. The power cord can be unplugged from the power board and removed to keep anyone from plugging it in while you are working on it.
The STK's are the large 18 pin integrated circuits (chips) mounted to the large heat sink on the convergence board. This is the board on the right when viewed from the back of the TV.
The resistors are beneath the heat sink on the left side of the board. There are also fusible resistors, like #7711, on that side. There are NO pico fuses in this area.
Fuse 853 is on the Power board. This is the board on the left when viewed from the back of the TV. You can remove both boards in the carrier by carefully unplugging all connectors, noting their locations and routing.
To remove the high voltage wires from the splitter, mark them for position then grasp the boot and turn counter-clockwise about 10 degrees to unlock them and then pull up while holding the High voltage splitter. The small high voltage wire can be removed from the flyback transformer by pulling hard while holding the flyback.
STK392-110 can be replaced with STK392-120, STK392-180, STK394-160.
I have found most of the parts at newark.com. Also check out this site for some very good info: http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/diy-repair-maintenance/5600-crt-based-rptv-convergence-repairs.html
btw: I am not affiliated in any way.
Make sure that while you have the boards out you look for any bad solder connections. A lot of problems arise or return because of this.
I hope this helps, I have been doing a lot of searching to get this info and hope it helps you. Too many people want to trickle the info and pretend they are giving you gold. A few hobbyists or people that can't afford to pay $300+ for repairs are not going to hurt their business.

SOURCE: TOSHIBA 57H82 TV Blurry for 15 minutes till warms up

This is a model first sold 2002.

They have a history of the Hyper board failing. Usually noise or lines in the picture and the warmup time gradually gets longer and longer.

This board processes all signal from all inputs inside the set and is no longer available from Toshiba.

The only way to get one is from a national company called PTS Electronics who rebuilds or repairs them--cost for rebuilt board is about 220 plus shipping and part number for this model is:
Part Number23148024

I have a service bulletin with photos of the board on my computer.

It is a financial decision, not a job for the average do it yourself person to attempt.

Ive had my toyota rav 4 since it first came out in 1998 never really had problems with it but yesterday i got home and tryed rolling the back window up and it wouldnt do anything no noise of struggle to...

Hi Valerie,

There are several different possibilities. It could be a problem with EITHER of the control switches (the driver's control switch or the switch on the back door) It could be the wiring between the two switches, or it could be a failed window lift motor.

If you would like to diagnose and repair this yourself, I can guide you through the process of diagnosis and repair, so you do not waste a bunch of time and money "guessing" where the problem is.

Camera showing flat batteries

May not work on yours but I have (hopefully had) same issue. I found that it will stay on if you keep pressing shutter to focus or switch straight to video and record - it stays on until you finish recording. I don't know why but after I moved the focus switch from caf to manual, took a couple of pictures and put it back to caf it now stays on.

That was only yesterday though so I cant say its permanently fixed yet.

Let me know if it helps.

Calapsed picture frame

Hi there,

This can only be a bad soldered on the video module, its better to check for any bad soldered and for any fault on the resistor on the video output module.

Hope this initial info / idea helps.

Please Accept my solution if I solved the issue.

Rolling of picture

Hi,
You camera is PAL and you are attaching with Ntsc TV or VCR. Both Pal and Ntsc are different systems and incompatible to each other.
If you want to see correct playback of your Camera, it requires Pal or Multi-System color TV.
Need further info, please let me know.

My panasonic palmcorder is having video problems

First of all, try using a head cleaning cassette. Secondly, it is now 24 years old - I am surprised it is still working at all (or maybe you are having it serviced annually ?)

Bad Ghosting Panasonic

It sounds like you may have a couple of defective convergence IC's, and maybe a couple of resistors. A fairly easy repair. Since you already have a warranty on the set, I would have it repaired and let the company know you haven't been too pleased with the picture quality all along. They may be able to tune it up a bit after repairing it to really make it shine for you. Panasonic usually makes pretty good sets, you could do a lot worse with some of the other brands out there.
