How do you remove the C253 Finisher from the copier ? On the black and whites there is a hole you press a screw driver in to remove. I do not see it on this model.

The waste toner container is located behaind the panel below where you put the toner in. You will have to remove 2 screws. One is located in the hole you see behind the toner access door. The other one is located on top of the shelf to the left. If there is a finisher you should see a access hole to get to the screw. The panel will then have to be slid to the left and moved out of the way. You should then be able to see the waste toner bottle. Reverse everything and all should be good. Now if there is an error code associated with this you will have to go into service mode and do a waste toner clear.
pull the finisher assembly out by the handle located just below the finisher output tray.on the back side of the finisher u will find the stapler unit.reload them by simply taking it out and then close the finisher
on the copier metal bracket that finisher attaches far end or front ull see a metal pin that sticks out. That pin goes in to the finisher white plastic hole.Inside that hole there is a switch that tells the copier the finisher is attached.
Assuming you have the Tri-fold finisher installed on your C253 then you must select the tri-fold option PRIOR to beginning the print job. There is no way to make the machine Tri-fold pages that have already been printed.
Thank You for using Fixya.
You have to move or remove the finisher, depending what finisher you have.
Open the door on the right side of the machine . It is about 4 inches high and 14 inches wide. Open the front cover and move the black bar to the down position as if you were replacing a drum.
Then on the right side, you slide the transfer unit out about 4 or so inches. On the front of that unit there are 2 torx screws held together with a black plastic strip. Remove those 2 screws, remove and replace the cleaner.
This error indicates that the patch image read sensor is dirty. You can locate the patch sensor by removing the drum unit from the front of the machine. The patch sensor is located in the machine, directly above the drum unit, halfway intothe machine. If you look into the machine and up you will see a white plastic unit running along the top about halfway point between the front and back of the machine. The patch sensor is inset into that unit and is black plastic. Clean with a lint free cloth several times - as it is hard to see the actual sensor, feel along the strip with your fingers until you can feel the indent where the sensor is - concentrate your cleaning around that area. Now replace the drum and turn the machine back on (I hope you turned it off first).
Removing the drum is easy but hard to explain. In fact, if you get the front cover off, you've done the hardest part. There are some hidden screws, one above the front cover to the left - as if you are looking down on the machine, there may be a small circular plastic cover hidding access to this screw. Remove it and unscrew. If you have an internal finisher, you will have to remove the circular covers above and below the front of it to push your driver through to the hole you need. Sounds complicated but once you've done it you'll see that it's easy when you know where the holes are. There is then another screw at the top, near to right that you access through the panel above - just look around and above the front cover to find the screws. Good luck
77-2 is a finisher prob..Make sure nothing is under the finisher like a small trash can preventing the finisher from moving up/down.Turn off then on,if prob. still there remove finisher by pressing a pen/pencil in small hole inside finisher door and pull fin. towards you. This will let you use copier until service rep. gets there.
