Check drain hose first.

If you do not find any blockage, then you will need to access the pump, remove pump hose and look for blockage in there.

If there is no blockage at all, then either the water level switch, a faulty pump, a wiring problem, or a faulty timer board can be cause the machine not draining.

Washing cycle wont finish, has trouble emptying

if it drains into a bucket it should drain into the stand pipe too, does it overflow out of the stand pipe (waste pipe) when draining?if so the pipe is blocked, also how high is the pipe?draining into a bucket might be less on the pump because gravity is helping drain if bucket is on floor,if the pipe is up high it might not be able to push it,there could be something in the drain hose that goes from the tub to the pump if it did drain no problems before, also when you stick the drain hose into the stand pipe if it's tight it might not have enough air getting into pipe to let it drain, fill the washer, put it on drain after you have some water in it,pull the drain hose out to the top of the stand pipe and let it drain,if it drains ok and water is going down pipe with no back up then it's an air problem, hard to say without being there, you're just gonna have to play detective, did you try to hold the bucket up higher than the washer so the water won't siphon out,if the bucket is up higher than the water level in the machine and it drains then you have a problem with the stand pipe or air gap problem.

F-05 flashing on my Hotpoint W860 but it's full of water, how do i fix

The F-05 error indicates that the drain is clogged or the pressure switch is stuck. Get a bucket to minimize flooding your washer area. Turn off the washer. Then pull the drain hose from the waste pipe and check for blockages. Check the waste pipe as well. Some find boiling water will clear the blockage. See if the machine will drain when you turn it back on.

Next check the filter is clogged This is near the pump and accessed from the back of the unit. Again you will a bucket to collect the water when you look at this. Next check the hoses at the dispenser for solidified detergent and such (take off the top cover and disconnect the flexible hoses). Finally check the rubber pipe connected to the pressure switch for a blockage.

If none of the above solve the problem, the pressure switch is probably faulty and should be replaced.

I hope this helps.

Washer filled and will not drain if I reset the fill capacity knob it will fill but not drain.

This washer has a belt. The belt drives the pump on this washer. The motor turns in both directions. iIn one direction the washer tub is locked and the tranny agitates. The water pumps out and the tub spins in the other direction. If that pump is locked up or the hose from tub to pump is blocked then it wont pump the water out. Lay the drain hose down towards a bucket and see if any water comes out. If not you got blockage. Once you drain it out tip is back and remove the belt (no tools needed) turn the pump both directions and look for signs of a failed pump. Manual and more

F12 won't drain or final rinse and spin

Hi, i'm pretty sure that this would seem to suggest that the pump maybe faulty or that there is a blockage, arm yourself with a large bucket or bowl and take the drain hose from the machine gently lowering it to below the washing machine tub level, make sure the drain hoseis quite flat or level as you do this, lift the hose if you need to stop the water because the bucket is full, empty the bucket and start again until no more water runs, then set about checking the filter for blockages or anything that maybe fouling the pump, if all is clear then it could be a suspect pump,if not clear all debris clean the filter re-insert it and make sure the drain hose is back in place, try the machine on a cycle, let it fill and see if it empties(pump runs), if not, the machine will not take in any further fresh water or do a main spin because there is water trapped in the machine. so you will have to go through the manual drain procedure again as above and try a new pump, there is also the possiblity it could be the main control board or faulty control loom.

If in doubt look for a washing machine technician that maybe able to give you a free quote.

Hope this helps.

What would make the washer not drain or spin?

Any of these two may work please try Instructions: Draining the machine 1) Locate the drainage hose, pump and filter. Check your owner's manual for the description. If you cannot access these items easily from the outside of your machine you may have to call a repair person.
2)Disconnect the drain hose. Make sure the end has been open (and cut) and that there is nothing plugging it. If the end is closed, cut the end off. Remove any blockage and let the water drain into the bucket. If the hose is not blocked, or your model washing machine does not feature a drainage hose, proceed to Step Three.
3)Check the pump and filter. In some models this resides behind a flap in the back of a washing machine. Locate a small drain hose and disconnect to drain the water. Hoses located in this manner may cause the water to drain slowly. If it drains only in small drops or not at all you may have to take apart the pump to find the blockage.
4)Bail out the water using a small bucket.
other alternate would be
Most likely it is the lid switch. And you can't always tell just by looking at it.

Next guess would be the timer having bad contacts.

If it wants to spin but don't or barely moves, then it's the coupling that needs to be replaced.

What causes the lid switch to go bad is slamming/dropping the lid down or setting something heavy on top of the washer.

The washer is supposed to pump out the water first, then start spinning. It won't do that if the lid switch is bad.

Electrolux dishwasher won't drain. Not a clog in the outlet hose or drain pipe.

The drain hose on a washing machinemag-glass_10x10.gif connects the drain pump to a stand pipe, a U-pipe under the sink, or another place for draining dirty water into the sewer. If your washer won't drain properly, the problem is sometimes an object blocking the drain hose, like a pair of underpants, a child's sock, or pieces of something that broke up in the washer.
  1. Unplug the washer and put the plug on top of the machine to keep it out of any spilled water.
  2. Step 2 Take any wet clothes out of the washer and bail the water out of the drum with the bucket. The washer may be too heavy to move if it's full of water and wet clothing.
  3. Step 3 Pull the washer out from the wall enough for you to get behind it.
  4. Step 4 Remove the plate from the back of the washer by taking out all the screws. Different brands and models of washers vary in how many screws hold on the back plate, and not all models require removing the plate to get to the pump where the hose is attached.
  5. Step 5 Locate the drain hose. Of the three hoses coming out of the back of the washer, the drain hose is the largest in diameter and is attached to a drain pipe instead of a faucet.
  6. Step 6 Check the drain hose for kinks and bends. These are often the cause of a blocked or slow-running drain hose.
  7. Step 7 Remove the drain hose from the washer by detaching it from the drain pump. You will need a screwdriver or a slide-lock wrench to open the clasp that holds the hose to the pump, depending on what type of clasp it is.
  8. Step 8 Keep the bucket nearby to catch any water that comes out of the drain pump when you remove the hose.
  9. Step 9 Remove the other end of the house from the pipe it drains into.
  10. Step 10 Bend the clothes hanger open so you can use it to poke inside the hose. Push or pull out the material that's causing the blockage.
  11. Step 11 Replace the hose and run the washer to check if it's clear.
