Green Convergence on a JVC 56" rear projection t.v.

A few weeks ago the convergence on my JVC 56" rear projection t.v. went out. I was able to realign it. A week later the green convergence on the top left hand corner started to curve downward and I was not able to align it. Now all three colors are not aligned but especially the green which is curving and I am not able to put them back. Is this expensive to fix or am I better off with a new t.v?

I have the same porblem as the other 2 posters. The green color is "bowing" at the top of the screen. I can perform the fix I just need some direction. My tv is the JVC HV-53PRO. So I would need to purchase the service manaul and the schematics to aid my troubleshooting, correct?

    Thanks for any help.

I have the same problem with green convergence bow in the top left corner which is not adjustable. Is it the convergence chip, cold soldier, or power supply? Any help would be appreciated.

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move tGreen Convergence on a JVC 56" rear projection t.v - 2c07611.pngdirections your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Replace the ssb5068a & also the ssb5068a/r at the same time ,it's cheap insurance !
the "A" is for red &the a/r is for blue & green.Remembeer to check all resisters associated with them ,they will look burned out or well used .

Help

It sounds as if your convergence ICs have failed again,However if you didnt replace the convergence resistors with the ICs that is most likely the cause of early IC failure. There is a quick test to determine if the ICs have failed. Remove the front speaker panel and access panel up front, and you will see the convergence panel with the two black heatsinks. Directly in front of those heatsinks are three wire clips that are for the convergence yokes, Unplug those three wire plugs and try turning on your set. If it comes on the ICs have failed, and the ICs and resistors should be replaced as a kit. You can get the repair kit for the JVC rear projections at the following link with free instructions. Heres the link.

If the red is colored outlines or 3d picture then it is a convergence problem.

If convergence is ok, then most likely screen/focus control assembly.
