Washer over fills and will not agitate

My washer overfills and will not agitate to check level o agitate to wash. I replaced the load sensing switch, but it did not help. I pulled the air line from he back of the sensor and blew in it, it briefly stopped filling and agitated, but then went back to filling. The spin , drain cycles works. Is there another sensor?

Replace the flowmeter and you should be good to go. Here is that part to order.http://bit.ly/13aMoWo

  • Jorgie the appliance guy

I would first check the water pressure switch as it is the unit that sends the signal to the machine to start wash cycle? if the diaphram does not setect the proper level of pressure due to water level. it will just keep filling and overflow and never start wash cycle.

  • Jorgie the appliance guy

u may also just want to check the clear hose tube that goes into the switch as if it is disconnected from tub or switch or if it has a tiny pin hole in it, it will not work properly and thus u have over flowing water

SOURCE: Does not spin

Seems you need a lube job on the centrifical mechanical switch that fully engauges the spin cycle( part of the pully to shaft assembly)

SOURCE: Agitation issues. Everything else appears/works normally.

I just encountered the same problem. I think the operation of the machine is such that the motor turns one direction for the spin cycle, and the other direction for the agitate cycle. I am replacing my motor, as I think i have a bad winding on the reverse. I will let you know.

SOURCE: maytag PAV2300AWW Washer makes grinding sound when agitating

Sounds like it is the bearing on the water pump. Take off back plate and replace and remove 3 screws and two hoses (the one hose is a waste line so make sure you have a bucket to empty our waste water) after removing these remove belt on bottom of pump.

SOURCE: Maytag Atlantis MAV6257AWW

I have a Maytag Atlantis MAV6257AWW. I need to replace the transmission. So I removed all four screws from the inner tub but I couldnt get the inner tub pull out, it's stuck.

From what I read on here, the seal nut doesn't have to be remove in order to remove the inner tub.

I tried every, I even hammer the shaft down from the inside of the tub but still no luck. Can someone help, thanks.

Any error code associated with fail to Spin?

Is this a FAV6800A LED console model or a FAV9800A LCD console model?

Like one of these?

Why does my maytag centennial agitate while it fills

The symptoms you are describing are most likely caused by a bad load sensing switch. The relay in the switch sticks and allows the washer agitate before it fills.

A simple check is to access the load sense switch and unplug the wires to it. Then check the operation. I have provided you with the instructions for accessing the load sense switch in the images below. I am also including the checks that can be made if you have a volt/ohm meter. Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts.

Once the console is open the load sense switch is the switch that has the clear plastic hose connected to it. Remove the connector that has the violet, white and the blue with orange stripe from the switch. Then carefully plug the washer back in and start a wash cycle. If the washer does not do anything, you need to replace the load sense switch (part number W10177795). If the washer still agitates, the problem is most likely a failed timer (part number W10243947).

My washer will not stop filling. it will continue to fill and overflow. What do I do?

Hello there:
If your washer is overfilling, check these: Water-inlet valve A defect in the water-inlet valve may mean that it's no longer able to shut off completely when the electricity has been turned off to it. If this occurs, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub. In time, the water may accumulate substantially. If this happens, you need to replace the valve. Water-level switch A defect--or an obstruction--in the water-level switch may mean that it can't tell the water to shut off. So the machine overflows. This switch senses the water level in the clothes tub. It's usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. You can either clear any obstruction in the tube or replace the water-level switch.
