Generally what type of detergent you use depends on what is recommended for the dishwasher. I am not sure which model of fisher and paykel dishwasher you have. But my opinion is that dish drawer type dishwashers work better with normal Finish powder detergent. It is not designed for tablets. The size of the wash space is small and it works on the principle of short and quick wash cycles. So the powerball is an overkill. Now about the streaking, this could be linked to the powerball but also you need to check if the rinse aid is present in the dispenser and also that you have selected the appropriate meter level for it being dispensed. 0 means no rinse aid and 5 is too much.;

SOURCE: Glasses not clean and shiny

Dishwashers have a part usually called a separator or accumulator which traps the dirt from the water during the wash cycles while the water is continuously recycled to clean the dishes. At the end of the cycle the separator is flushed out and the trapped dirt goes down the drain. If it doesn't get flushed out the dirt builds up till it starts showing up on the dishes. Some separators have a hole on top and one on bottom with a valve which stops up one hole or the other depending which cycle it's running. The valve can be stuck or broken causing the problem.

My goldseries whirlpool dishwasher is not cleaning dishes. Grey film left on glasses etc and cups are not getting tea stain off. I just bought large box of Finish Powerball

I have not had good luck with all-in-one soaps. I use the liquid drying agent with Cascade Complete and get sparkling results without prewashing. They do need to be rinsed if they have sat for a while before running the washer and use the hottest water to warm up the water in the washer pipe before you start the washer.

Where do I put the Finish powerball in my KENMORE 24 in built in dishwasher? There are two places to put the soap. One has a cover and the other does not.

If you have a water softener, just drop the entire tablet into the bottom of the dishwasher at the beginning of the cycle. This is to allow extra cycles to get all the soap out, since soap goes a lot farther in soft water. If you don't have a water softener, put the tablet in the part with the lid, and close the lid. You don't need anything in the other (pre-wash) part.

I have a fairly new Fisher and Paykel double drawer dishwasher. A problem has developed all of a sudden whereby the Finish powerball tablet does not completely dissolve during the cycle (top drawer only),...

The water temperature is not coming up to the required level. The heater might be failing. Will need a technician to fix unless you are very savvy with technical repairs. Have you tried using the detergent powder in the dispenser to find if results are different.

Which is the best powdered cascade product for the china/crystal setting on my miele?

Most european dishwashers are water conserving and energy saving. You have to be very careful in the type of detergent that you use. Plain, original cascade powder works fine in your Miele. Use 1/2 of the recommended amount, as your dishwasher uses much less water than the american machines that the amounts are written for. avoid cascade with additives such as bleach, or dawn. these additional components in the detergent do not rinse off well with the reduced water quantity, and will leave a gritty white residue on your dishes. Stick with the plain powder. I use Finish tablets with the red powerball, and I dont add rinse aid. These tablets work great in the Miele, asko, Bosch, and other imported dishwashers.

One caution on your china and crystal setting, your manual states that if you want to use the china and crystal cycle, the dishwasher should be connected to cold water only. The temperature of the china and crystal setting is limited to 115 degrees. your hot water is probably much hotter. if your dishwasher is connected to hot water, it will defeat the purpose of the lower temperature cycle. you will get etching on your crystal glasses.

Remember, the Miele will heat its own water one batch at a time. Connect it to cold for energy efficiency, hot for shorter cycle times. but cold only for china and crystal.
Enjoy your machine.
