70 Series Kenmore Washer Agitates in Heavy Duty regardless of switch selection

I have a 70 Series Heavy Duty Kenmore Washer (Model #: 110.92274100). No matter what load selection I put the switch in, it only agitates in the Heavy Duty mode. So Normal wash = Heavy Duty agitate, Perm Press = Heavy Duty agitate, etc ... Any ideas? Do motors have a transmission gear for gentle, normal, and heavy duty agitating?

    • blueextc3221, thank you, are you saying the timer/main controller/CCU reference means timer in my case, due to my washer only has a timer and a switch, per the schematic? • Duane Grant, thank you, I checked, it was not between settings. But your confident it is in the switch selector mechanism?

Yours is a 2 speed motor. Does it spin in 2 different speeds. If so, then it most likely is designed with only to agitate in 1 speed. If it only spins in one speed, then your motor is defective

SOURCE: No agitation in the delicate and regular modes.

does you washer have a delicate, or normal speed adjustment switch, if it does make sure its not between setting or it will sound like a machine gun......you may need to replace that switch

SOURCE: Kenmore 90 Series only agitates on heavy-duty cycle

It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

I have a top loading Kenmore Washing Machine. I don´t have the excat model but looks like a KENMORE HEAVY DUTY SERIES 70 AUTOMATIC WASHER, MODEL # 110.92273100. The problem presents after finishing...

You may have 2 defective parts.
First, make sure the hot and cold water hoses are connected correctly and both turned on.
If the water fill problem is the same, the water temp switch is bad.
The not filling after the wash cycle could be a bad lid switch.
Set the machine for SPIN and turn it on.
If it does not spin, replace the lid switch.

Kenmore Heavy Duty 70 Series Leaking in the back

If you bought a new washer and you still have a leak, i guess it was not the washer but where it drains into. Sink or stand pipe has a leak. unless you are useing the old drain hose from your old washer. Dry up everything and look for the sorse of water with a bright light when the washer drains .

Kenmore 70 series 110 washer won't drain or spin, but agitates

You have a broken lid switch. Check to see if the switch is broken off of the two screws that hold it under the lid. If it is, get a new one, take off the case and replace old switch with the new one.
