SOURCE: cannot get my krups burr
Hi,
The GVX2 has two micro switches. one on the top hopper (in the groove on right hand side) and the other in the space the coffee holder (collector) fits into.
The coffee collector micro switch is activated by the lid of the collector.
You have to listen for a small "click" as you place the hopper on and again as you insert the coffee collector.

Philip Williams

I have the same issue. You need to take both dials off, then on the bottom, there are 4 tabs on the inside. Seperate the halves and you will see them. Towards the front and halfway back. Pry the halves apart enough to push the top towards the bottom and it slides apart pretty easy. The tricky part now is finding the replacement part. I have super glued my switch and I want to do something to try and repair it further. Maybe epoxy. I called Krups and they can't sell the part to me. I called one of their service centers and they can't sell the part to me. So, if someone knows where to get the part, I am all ears :)

Had the same problem. Took out every screw I could find, and pried open the stainless steel shell (not easy) and eventually disassembled it to the point where could get at the broken switch. Cut the wires to the switch and tied them together with some black electrical tape effectively bypassing the safety switch, then put it back together. Tools I used were a screwdriver and a pair of pliers. Thing has worked for 2 years since. It will run without the lid on, so dont stick your fingers in.
Overall took me about 45 minutes, but well worth it instead of adding to landfill and spending more money.

Open the grinder by removing both knobs.
The front knob is held in place by friction. Use two flat head screwdrivers to pry it off.
The side knob is held in by tabs you have to push. Pry forward to expose the tab, and use another screwdriver to press the tab, and use the other screwdriver to press the tab on the other side.
Now look at the bottom of the grinder. There are four tabs on the outer shell, use screwdriver s to pry the tabs to separate the bottom of the grinder from the shell, and pull off the shell. Your fuse should be attached to the motor wiring coil.
