SOURCE: Black ink not working on HP C5180 Photosmart

Try a hard restart, which simply means unplugging the power cord of the printer, and replugging it after one minute has passed. If that does not work, then rerun the CD used to install the printer. Both techniques reprogram the electronics, to a certain extent.
You can also visit the HP website, to see what solutions are being offered for various printer problems. They probably have a number to call, in case you need to talk to a technician.
Hope these suggestions help you out.

SOURCE: My refilled ink cartridge still displays empty and will not print

The ink cartridge is most likely chipped & you would not be able to reset the ink level. Purchase an original or a good compatible cartridge. Refiling newer cartridges is not a good idea.

Hi David,

There is no way HP will know what kind of cartridge you are using, Whether OEM or Geniune.

It is the printer which identifies if the cartridges are Refilled or Geniune.

Your issue is related to print quality, Clean the golden( Electrical contacts ) on the cartridges usually fix the issue.

Hp Photosmart 6510 Black ink will not print

It is a known defect among many PhotoSmart printers, including the 6510. The black ink was programmed to fail at between 50 to 60 black print cartridges. One HP whistleblower said a bug in this programmed failure causes the black ink to suddenly stop printing after 5 to 6 black ink changes instead. When you call in, they offer to sell you a new printer! The service guy I spoke with was extremely nervous. I refused to buy a new printer, given I had put less than a ream of paper through mine. I was on hold for about 10 minutes, then told there was no supervisor, but given an email address to write to. Three weeks later, still no response. Yes, a class action lawsuit needs to happen, not just for the printer malfunction, but for the hours I soent trying to fix it, and new cartridges I bought, thinking I had bad ones.

Welcome to the club mate :) Throw it out and stop buying new cartridges before you pay double the price of the printer in cartridges... This is a known problem, without any fix. Should I congratulate you on buying a nice disposable printer?

I have an HP Photosmart. I refill the cartridges on it myself, and have been for several months now. It was working fine the last time I used it, but I tried to use it yesterday, and everything that...

The problem could be that the cartridges are not seated correctly. Try taking out the cartridges and putting them back in. If this does not help, the cartridges may need cleaning. Steps to do this are here. Otherwise, cleaning the cartridges and the contacts to them can be done by carefully removing the cartridges and swabbing the contacts and area around with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol. If this still does not work, the cartridges themselves may be defective. See if you can get a refund or replacement from where you bought them.

HP Photosmart 3210xi - some colors (magentas) will not print

Remove the magenta cartridge, and try cleaning the head with alcohol, maybe with a small paint brush or an acid brush. It sounds like ink has dried and plugged up that head.
