The carrier unit runs fine for a while then stops and the `unit on' led flashes 4 times then repeats the 4 flashes and so on
model 42G250HF-1 i turn off the condensors breaker reseting the unit and then it works for a while 20 min to a few hours
This problem is outdoor unit issue. Blinking 4 times in carrier highwall unit means Compressor drive malfunction. Possible cause are the following: - Stuck up or grounded compressor. - Magnetic contractor in outdoor unit is defective or indoor unit relay supplying outdoor unit is defective. - No power supply going to outdoor unit.
The fin coil sensor is either badly conected or spoilt so u replace it
As i am a mechanic in sydney australia, i can honestly say that the chance of you getting help via carrier is very very slim... the reason it is doing that is that it has a legitimate problem unfortunately i have a carrier 42g250h which is flashing 4 times aswell... i have been waiting now 10 working days for carrier to call me to tell me what the problem is... if you can afford to do it, throw the damn thing out and buy a new one, i hate to say it but even an LG will work better than these heaps of ****

same problem with a 42kg5a3405b... it starts ok, then erratically --because could be any time, minutes, hours, etc-- flashes 5 times and closes itself. maybe it would start again but sometimes it doesnt. this model is 220v, cooler only, split system. if i reset its mains breaker outdoors it will "reset" and could make it work since when it falls into the blink state on/off via remote wont work. no error codes chart in the indoor unit nor user manual
Where is this led at on thermostat, indoor or out door unit , or is this a package unit all in one?
Is it set to cool or heat? Are you cooling or heating when this happens?
Do you see or hear anything different?
Are these flashes of the same time length or quick then longer or vice versea?
Is it gas heat? Electric Heat?
