Genuine HP cartridges. I've tried all of the steps on HP's website except sending to service and replacing the cartridges. They are too darn expensive to buy not knowing whether that is the problem. I also tried that setting my clock on my computer to an earlier date than the expiration date of the cartridge. Nothing has worked. The check cartridge light stills blinks and "E" flashes on the copies readout. The black cartridge has not been used much and was purchased within the last year. The color cartridge is older (that's why I tried the clock trick as suggested by wisewoman-I think). Any other suggestions?

You know, I'm not going to read the other solution. I know 100% FOR SURE, when a cartridge fails, it is dead and there is nothing you can do about it, but there is a good side. HP ink cartridges have a year warranty. Call them and tell them it failed, they'll send you a new one!

SOURCE: Error,
Steps you have suggested were tried out because they had been listed under Trouble Shooting section of HP. As mentioned earlier, they were not successful in restoring the operation.. Error light "Check Printer cartridge" contonues to blink,
any fersh suugestions, please? Error seems to be localised to Black cartridge.(in my opinion)..One file hp crotech, dll seems to be misssing,
Even HP director does n't easilyopen up,when clicked. No activity whatso ever, when I try to print.
Please offer some solution. HP local service center, suggests replacement of the Printer,--exhange it--- which to my miund is no solution.
Thanks for your suggestions.
