I have the white dots starting on my Mitsubishi WD-65737. I see posts about it might be the dlp chip, but is there a way to fix this myself without buying new parts. I just can't afford to spend a lot of money on TV parts. Please help... Thank you

You have to remove the lower panel on the back of your tv, then remove the light engine. Unhook the wires attached to the DMD board. Remove the DMD board. Remove the heat cink from the DMD board. remove the optical lens but don't touch the lens. There is a video on shopjimmy.com that shows the entire procedure. Takes 2 hours. The optical lens can be cleaned with an eyeglass cloth, same for the DLP chip lens. no wet solutions on lenses. Remove dust from other internal parts with compressed air in a can. Your picture will be clean and clear. Wear latex gloves and make sure you are grounded to prevent static electricity.

SOURCE: mirror on Mitsubishi DLP HDTV 60

Hello zero_x08, 1) remove the cover of the TV and find the light engine. 2) using canned air blow dust from the mirro assembly 3) test the screen by turning the TV on after the system has warmed back to room tempurature. This should clean the mirror Thank you, Shuttle83 http://www.electron-age-technologies-llc.com

SOURCE: TV is 73" DLP Mitsubishi.

Hello
There are tow reaons for this fault. The first one is with the colour whell as you mentioned here. The second and most importan one is with its bulb itsef. Colour wheel won't cost too much. Just replace it first and see whether it helps you. If not, bulb may have to be replaced.OL

SOURCE: What can I use to clean the mirror on my 65" MItsubishi model #65737??

If its a WD 65737 do not attempt it---special mirror and any marks will show in picture---Contact Mitsubishi as they do make a special liquid cleaner for this but real care has to be taken, not to mention just getting at the mirror correctly-----why does it need cleaning?

I am getting wide lines of bars on the screen after replacing dlp chip in wd- 73735 73" mitsubishi

you will need to pull the DLP chip out & clean the dust & foreign particles that got in while you had it apart.

Mitsubishi dlp tv picture is getting darker

One of two possible issues:

1. Lamp is nearing end of life and may dim just before total failure.

2. A few of these models have 2 mirrors(check with Mitsubishi to see if yours is one) A large mirror in back (never gives a problem and do not try to clean it. Some idiot in these sets used a small mirror inside that the optical unit shines the picture into (wedge shaped mirror and small) and it is facing up----the fans intake air from the front of the set around this mirror--it gets coated with lots of dust---Picture can loose up to 70% of its brightness and clarity if that mirror is dirty--looks like 20 year old set .

If you do not wish to check with Mitsubishi GOOGLE THE MODEL NUMBER with "mirrors" to see.

If it has 2 mirrors I can tell you exactly how to get at it.

We are having white dots appearing on our Mitsubishi DLP 65 inch television, approx. 3 years old. It looks like a constellation is appearing. New dot every day.

That means you need to replace the Optical Unit Block/Light Engine.Dmd board has been known to cause this also, but most of the companys replace Dmd and optical unit.

WD73732 TV-picture seems to have a "glow" or light shine especially when viewed at night. For example, faces show a glow on forehead, cheeks, nose. It is getting progressively worse. TheTV is...

You need to clean the mirror inside the television and maybe even the optics of the light engine. The dust is building up and the light cannot reflect cleanly off of the mirror.

White dots appearing on Mitsubishi 1080p DLP tv.

Actually you must replace the DLP chip that is buried deep in the works of the tv. Unfortunately this can run into a nice lump of change. Do what I did. Perhaps you've heard the old addage

Picture getting darker over the years

It could be your Light Engine. However, I would first check a few things:

1. Make sure your Low Power/Lamp settings are adjusted so that they meet your brightness needs.

2. Make sure you used a Mitsubishi original lamp, as generics get chewed through fast and hard.

3. Try another lamp; sometimes you can get a bad one in the bunch.

All those things don't work, consider a Light Engine ($400 + for parts; $300+ for labor)
