While moderate coffee consumption can be safe during pregnancy, it's also essential for pregnant women to avoid other harmful habits. This includes refraining from smoking, alcohol consumption, and the use of illicit drugs, all of which can significantly harm the developing fetus. A holistic approach to a healthy lifestyle, encompassing a balanced diet and avoiding harmful substances, is crucial for the well-being of both the mother and the baby. Check out this forum, it's an interesting discussion about how hard it is to quit your habits abruptly: https://www.netmums.com/coffeehouse/health-wellbeing-1087/alcohol-drugs-smoking-462/1390746-weed-there-anyone-else-trying-stop-smoking-during-pregnancy-4.html#01HJKQYQ0BE5PJJGW7FVFR1YM3

Oh, no. Believe me, you can drink as much coffee as you want, as long as you feel okay about it.

Getting more than 150-200 milligrams (about 1-2 cups of coffee) of caffeine a day during pregnancy may not be healthy. High amounts of caffeine during pregnancy has been linked to problems with a baby's growth and development.

It is not necessary to completely give up coffee, as long as you are drinking in moderate quantity. Experts recommend a daily safe consumption of 200 mg of caffeine, which roughly translates into two cups of coffee, with each cup being about 200 ml. Be careful about when drinking coffee because it contains caffeine and polyphenols.

Pregnant women should limit their caffeine intake to less than 200 milligrams per day. It is not harmful for baby if you take in proper ration, while breastfeeding also don't exceed caffeine intake from 500 mg per day, otherwise it affects on baby's heart rate and breathing rates. Is it ok to drink hot chocolate during pregnancy?

Yes. Women are generally recommended to cut down on their caffeine intake during pregnancy but the amount of caffeine in a cup of hot chocolate is much less than you find in coffee or even tea.

So keep drinking your hot chocolate. Obviously an excess of anything isn't good for you, so just aim for a balanced healthy diet.

Using Tums while pregnant

Studies have shown that nearly 80% of all pregnant women experience heart burn or acid reflux at one point during their pregnancies. Nearly 60% of women report fighting a constant battle with heart burn or acid reflux throughout their entire pregnancies.
Many of these women suffer quietly and many of them take Tums or other antacids to ease the discomfort.
Because of increased blood production during pregnancy, many women develop an iron deficiency. Anemia can cause exhaustion in the mother and problems such as premature birth in the fetus. Anemia is usually treated with an iron supplement, taken at bed time. Doctors recommend that iron be taken at bedtime because consumption of the supplement along with dairy products can render it ineffective.
Ironically, women also tend to suffer discomfort from heart burn and acid reflux when lying down in bed at night.
What doctors don't often tell women is that taking many antacid tablets can also render iron ineffective.
Therefore, it is particularly important to curb your Tums intake at night so that the iron supplement you take can actually be effective.
Studies have shown that in order to get rid of indigestion problems while making sure your iron supplement is effective, you should not take more than 6 Tums a day and to avoid taking them for at leas two hours before and after taking your iron supplement.

I am pregnant,Can i drink tea or coffe?

When pregnant, you should limit your caffeine intake. Tea has really low amounts of caffeine, so a cup every so often probably wouldn't be a problem.

Coffee however contains a lot of caffeine so it would probably be best to avoid it most of the time.

Hi I just recieved my blood test results & I have abnormal progestrone levels. what does this mean and is this serious?

Progesterone is a steroid hormone involved in the female menstrual cycle, pregnancy (supports gestation) and embryogenesis of humans and other species. Progesterone belongs to a class of hormones called progestogens, and is the major naturally occurring human progestogene.
In women, progesterone levels are relatively low during the preovulatory phase of the menstrual cycle, rise after ovulation, and are elevated during the luteal phase. Progesterone levels tend to be < 2 ng/ml prior to ovulation, and > 5 ng/ml after ovulation. If pregnancy occurs, progesterone levels are initially maintained at luteal levels. With the onset of the luteal-placental shift in progesterone support of the pregnancy, levels start to rise further and may reach 100-200 ng/ml at term. Whether a decrease in progesterone levels is critical for the initiation of labor has been argued and may be species-specific. After delivery of the placenta and during lactation, progesterone levels are very low. Progesterone levels are relatively low in children and postmenopausal women.[19] Adult males have levels similar to those in women during the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle.
Depending on the level actually, it could post to be a very serious threat or not so harmful,
The best way to go about this is to see a doctor and see if they have anything supplements regarding your issue of progesterone. They should be able to help you out on this situation.
Hope this helps? Please comment for more information and thank you for using fixya.
