Hi,
Our Krups XP9000 keeps telling us to "Fill Water Tank", however the tank is full & seems to be in position correctly. I have tried this both with and without the water filter fitted to the tank.
The machine is out of warranty - I was wondereing if there is a reset function on these machines or if there is another solution I could tried.
I have already tried switching the machine off a number of times & have also tried pushing just about every button on the machine, but it will not move from the "Fill Water Tank" screen. On switching the machine off, it does rinse, so it seems that water is getting through.
Cheers.
Jason
I have just had the same problem with my Krups XP7240 and I discovered (quite by accident!) that it was the magnetic float inside the water tank which was causing it. I think the float must have let some water in and always stayed on the bottom even when the tank was full. As the float was in an enclosed plastic column it was a bit hard to access, but through sheer desperation I snapped a plastic fork in half and wedged the handle section under the float to keep it off the bottom and this works nicely. It is not professional by any means but I was quite pleased with my innovation :)
The only down side to this 'method' is that the opposite is now true and when the tank is empty it doesn't register so you would really have to keep an eye on the water level to avoid killing the element completely.
I would imagine that the only professional way to get this sorted out is to replace the tank (or float if it is accessible?). Good luck!!
Thank you very much, I would never thought that the cause could be that little black magentic float.
I have empty the water tank and then I was shake it throughly. Probably water was entered inside the magnetic float and it can not float any more. After I put water back in the tank, the float works and the problem is solved.
Thank you

The magnetic float on the back of the tank gets waterlogged over time and stops floating. You can use a very thin piece of metal to attract the float and slide it up into the position where the machine thinks water is in the tank, and then tape the piece of metal to the back of the tank. The magnet will stay up due to attraction to the metal and the machine will now register the tank is always full. You have to keep an eye on the water level and make sure you never let the tank run dry or risk burning out your pumps inside the machine.
Hmm, too bad, guys... This elegant sollution is not working for me. :-( My magnetic float floats perfectly, but the machine still does not recognize the water tank is full. :-( Any ideas?
This was absolutely the answer to my "Fill Water Tank" problem. I managed to dislodge the float where it was stuck at the bottom...I gave it a good whack...and now the machine works like new. Thank you so much for the tip.
Great --- this worked for me ... I jammed it up with a paperclip ... but will (try to) buy a new tank as a safeguard against burning out my heater in the event i run out of water
